  • Allen from the hangover!!!

  • is there any way to do it with only the soldering iron, like would melting the solder with the iron work?

  • I use a desoldering iron. The suction is attached to the iron allowing you to use one hand for both actions.

  • Jeff seems much too excited about that solder suction device.

  • How bad would it be if I ripped out a solder point from my mother board? Can it be resoldered?

  • This guy fixes all my keyboards and amps. Good guy, good musician, too.

  • How to subscribe to this guy instead of subscribing to Expertvillage??

  • Watching the plunger thing suck up the solder was magical.

  • im gonna stick a sautering iron up your peehole, jeff

  • i think i'm going to go with the solder pump. solder gone in a split second.

  • very helpful..thanks!

  • Thanks! This made my life much much easy-er, I'm gonna sub you

  • EXTREMELY helpful! Thanks!

  • wow first good video from expertvillage, keep it up!

  • Not going to lie, when I saw the video being made by expertvillage, I was about to not click on it, to my suprise the video has alot of likes and was very helpful.

  • 0:57 for dirty Jeff!

  • Wow... just watched this 5 minutes ago and can already attest it works perfectly! Didn't have that fancy braided copper so I just took some speaker wire and twisted it up and it worked like a charm!

  • This is the first helpful expert village video I've seen. Awesome.

  • it is truth that soldering gives cancer? And what about flux?

  • @Incrue, there's no study that says soldering gives cancer. However, it can cause asthma if breathed too much. Since lead ( which is present in most solders) CAN be a danger to your health, I would suggest using a lead free solder. Lead free solders, though slightly more expensive, are much safer AND actually form a stronger bond.

  • @Wurchin ok, thanks

  • Great series of videos! Thanks a lot!

  • The solder suction device got me pumped

    "So let's go." -awesome

  • omfg like Magic

  • is that an Edsyn DS017 at 00:54?

  • i was desoldering some transistors on my pcb and well, i wasnt able to completely remove the soldering lead from the terminals so i applied more heat to the holes just to remove the terminals but then i ended peeling off the copper ... now i'm lost because i don't know how to make a jumper. i wish there was a video for that.

  • Whats better

    Using Super Wick or Desoldering?

  • he looks like CM PUNK

  • Its a Scottish Bob Villa who gets a little to happy w/ his "solder suction device," ha. Its a pump dude.

  • This dude looks like he popped outta Home Improvement. If you guys ever follow ExpertVillage, ya'll are gonna end up killing your selves, due to the lack of tutorial they them selves don't even know how to do. So they end up using pot heads to give the tutorial >.<

  • First E.V. I've seen where the teacher didn't sound like a ROBOT!!

  • you make it look really easy....I'm off to go and make a total mess and bugger up my expensive circuit boards

  • great review with great quality video , i like that

  • solder suction device great tipp!

    Thx!

  • If the circuit board turns black next to where you desoldered is that ok

  • @venomDgamer that doesnt matter it is only a little layer of smoke on the top and will not harm any thing in anyway koool

  • lol@0:55 where he's facing the camera all smug and loads the "solder suction device" like it's a shotgun. haha

  • this is probably the most boring man I've ever seen. He's too monotonous

  • i like pizza

  • A good and non-retarded video from ExpertVillage. Next week: pigs fly.

  • what do you do with the excess solder, by which I mean the solder in the suction thing

  • Throw it away? It doesn't stick because the sucker is from plastic.

  • @JDarkooJDarkoo Allright, thx. I was affraid it would stick, but if i an just push it out there there won't be a problem.

  • @149328 u can reuse it or throw it

  • What the hell is SODDER? There's an L in there for a reason, you pronounce it. Sol-der.

  • @TrippingOverGod he's saying it right, get an education, learn to use a dictionary before you stick your foot in your mouth again. Knowing is half the battle.

  • Amazingly, Jeff Naylor is the only guy from Expertvillage that can be called an expert.

  • I watched that stupid advertisement for that? @@@@

  • I've tried both these methods yet still cant remove all the solder - I'm about ready to take a drill to it unless anyone has any other method I dont know about

  • @TWBrit You must have a two sided board. DO NOT DRILL because there may be internal traces or planes that would be broken. If it's a two pin component try heating one pin and tilting the part to the side. Repeat on the other side.

  • wow that solder sucker thing is awesome

  • The braid is really horrible. I think the pump would be a perfect solution to de-solder without using the braid to overheat the circuit board.

  • after u using the solder wick how do you clean the wick than

  • @himynameisphuc the wick isn't supposed to be cleaned. It it used, just cut it of and throw it away. Which is also why you might want to prefer a suction pump since it can be reused all the time.

  • Flux is needed on the braid to desolder, and flux I don't see.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for that Jeff.

  • good on you mate I learned a lots thanks very much professor.

  • Thanks for the video this has answered my question on what the hell that ribbon was in my DIY DC jack repair guide. THANK YOU. I think ill stick with the pump!

  • god how much watts have that soldering iron? it melted the solder in second

  • someone please help me, im so pissed off. im fixing a laptop and im trying to take off the solder, but the solder is stuck inside the whole. when i wipe the solder after applying heat, the excess solder goes into the holes. i got a desoldering iron but it doesnt get hot enough. how can i scrape out the solder out of the holes without runing the mother board?

  • @IDmann700

do u have a desolderer? if u do, u can put the iron against the solder u want to come off then immediately suck it up with the desolderer from the other side of the board's hole

  • WOW that sucki thingie really works well ! Never seen that before. I just use the braided copperwire, but i always stretch it sideways before use to make it absorb more of the solder.

  • What is he doing at 0:34?

  • @alldaygamer capillary action. its when particles slowly crawl up on object due to liquid contact. put it this way: if u take a paper towel and role it like a snake, and put one end of the paper towel in water, the water will rise throughout the paper towel due to capillary action or (the rise of a liquid). understand?

  • @alldaygamer he first heated the solder then he placed the wick thing over it n then heated the wick from above so it can absorb the solder.

  • @MaddDogg282 it didn't seem like it was absorbing the solder that well

  • i am working on a small circuit board and the solder is bridging to the other joint. what do i do to remove all of the solder? i tried the suction gun thing but it did not really work.

  • Does that sucction get reused to solder to solder again

  • what is that suction cup called and where can i buy 1? please and thankyouuuuu

  • wow fail... braided shit... it really works... not

  • adverts >.< makes me not want to wait for the video!

  • 0:50 is weird as fuck

  • good but need hard

  • This would have been a great video but the captions block the view of how to use solder wick.

  • @mjparme You can turn captions off...on the video player just put your mouse over the icon of the black rectange with the little white arrow pointing up (on the very bottom right of the player). Then just click on the rectangle that says "CC" that comes up. The cc rectangle will turn black and,...no more captions!

  • due you are rocking, never saw such a useful video on youtube before.

  • This guy does not have a clue what hes doing, he cannot even use desolder braid correctly, but then again that is expected from amature village aka "expertvillage".

  • is there a way to get the subs off?!

  • click the upward arrow at the bottom right of the player. and deselect captions

  • @mullenmaniac Photoshop it and watch it again

  • cba :P

  • @mullenmaniac lol its intergrated into the video...

  • @mullenmaniac last button to the right

  • fuken captions dont let me see

  • Lol this guy knows what he is doing

  • i dont have a soldering iron i just use a similer shaped tool and heat it up with a flame for a while and it kepps it hot fror a few minites

  • 'Now we'll pray to the soldering gods who rock'...This guy is one rockin dude.

  • So Jack black!!!! But now i know i need a suction thingy and not a toothbrush like i saw a guy in the Dominican Republic doing,, and i tried it when i got back to canada and i suck at it..

  • "so now we've soldered a resistor on the circuit board, and that was fun..."

  • I didn't know about the suction tool, but have a tool with a suction cup on it which heats up the solder and use the suction cup to remove it while hot. One tool purchased at Radio Shack. I works well for me.

  • finally i know what is a desoldering pump in my lab good for.. :)

  • Thanks Jack Black! Now I know how to solder.

  • lol

  • if I stick that suction thing in my nose, will it help with crusty, rockhard boogers?

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHA

  • Only if you heat them to 300°C xP

  • be careful you don't suck your brain out

  • I'm going to solder my penis just for an excuse to try out this nifty device.

  • @jerryfudala

Jsut tried it... yes and no...

  • @station2station Did it only get part of it? Thats what happened to me...left about 86% of it still stuck to the wall of my nostril. Took 4 tries before I got it all...

  • @jerryfudala yes, you must first tin said booger then heat it then use sucker on it, hope this helps :)

  • @jerryfudala yes, yes it will.

  • @jerryfudala LMAO!!!

  • @jerryfudala yes but next thing you pull is your brain

  • that ass pump was the best even the dude was like OH YEAH!!!

  • Envergure those pumps are very good option, I actually have that very same model and it works good... it doesn't get clogged since you have the option to remove the tip and clean it, same if you burn the tip which is changeable

  • How long do those pumps last before they get clogged with solder?

  • whoa! damn! that solder came right off!

  • PCB's

  • Jeff.

How do I repair a cracked circuit board? Can I use a wire to jump accross the crack and solder it the nearest post?

  • Are those components Pioneer or Kenwood in the background?

  • Comment removed

  • Let me say, if I were leaving a post like that, I would make sure everything was spelled correctly.

  • you know what save me just save me and go fuck a dead dog up in the butt asshole.

  • lol

  • let me say if my dick was long and hard.

i would stick it up in your nose and up your mind fart knocker.

  • Holy Shit this was the first retard village video that I watched and actually learned something.

  • really, this is the only thing expert village has ever given me that is helpful.

  • @shotgun8left lol @ "retrard village video"

  • here check out this video for soldering. its very well put together and probably has some useful information for soldering on small contact points.

    watch?v=I_NU2ruzyc4

  • You could use a desoldering tool. It comes with it's on iron to heat and suck up (with a sqeezable bulb). Can be bough in radioshack

  • 4 pins of what...

  • Really cool, thanks!

  • Straight and to the point. nice

  • thank you!

in portuguese i cant find this content

  • You can make the braid work a little better if you soak it in liquid flux.

  • where do you get your braid from? The stuff at radio shack is junk.. Todd
