It might be better to start wheeling first and then try manuals, because when you pull a wheelie you can get to that balance point where you don´t need no pedaling and basically you are doing a manual at that moment. =)

@TranceMatzl15 If you have friends who can do it, you should ask them. I had a lot of trouble until I met a downhill racer who told me what was wrong with my technique. Now, I still have a lot of trouble but can consistently manual like 2 M, with my record of 10.

Why would they have a guide for manualing a MTB from a guy on a hard tail? Isn't that the same as manualing a bmx bike? I can manual my bmx, but manualing something with rear suspension is a bitch.

I work at a bike shop and i have alot of people come in and ask the same thing. id recomend the new SR sintour i ride that on a jamis kromo and its a great bigginer fork because it very forgiving its cheap and suports a disk break. theres also the fox float is a great fork but its on the expensive side

you can also try the Marzochi dirt jumper its less forgiving because it has a stronger set of springs. how much do you weigh?

you guys realize that manuals are easier on a mtb than a bmx cuz disk brakes, they help so much to learn manuals, just do that sitting thing and feather the brake to keep from falling back.
