The first time I ever saw Paul Merton was in said ITV panto. He came out on stage with Ronnie Corbett, both in matching pink frilly underwear and said: "Eddie Izzard, eat your heart out." with a completely straight face and spot on timing, and I knew he was a genius.
i am a little fed up of men pushing forty going on about their sanitized experiences of drug taking at art college.
the fourteen year olds I know don't find their humour funny and they will be pushed out as their target demographic gets older. then we can have wit like this back.
you know the comedians I mean... trying desperatley to be successful in america. but FAILING :P
@Clarinerd617 £100+ per year 2 LEGALLY watch tv lol.. thats why the bbc get in trouble for shit they do when other broadcasting companies wouldn't.. because we pay for it.. little bit unfair for the bbc i think..
@thousandsOFviews heh, the only thing that america has that truly is better.....is how we treat our broadcasting corporations. I wish we had something as good as Have I Got News For You? in america, though....
Yes. I have basically been mentally ravished by the fact that there are two videos on youtube, featuring the same person, in which he is actually wearing different clothes!
Arthur from 'Arthur, the Teletubbies from 'The Teletubbies', and Bart Simpson from 'The Simpsons' never changed their clothes, sowhy should someone in real life do so.
Imagine Vince from 'Recess' without his baseball outfit on all the time? It barely bears thinking about!
Met him after a show in 1992 in the pub next door to the theatre.Really genuine nice bloke. Bought him a pint of Guinness and a pint for Richard Vranch who was performing with him. Quietand uncomfortable with being recognised, but really courteous and pleasant. And very tall
They do not seem to have been Friends, Deayton was the one that had no jokes he made more money and his character was being snooty and better then everyone else.
If you watch season 2-8 you'll notice that the animosity seems real...
I think the only place to go from here is the Hislop interview.

I was really hoping to hear why he didn't like Deaton! Where's the real part 2?
pudseypumper 1 year ago 10
@pudseypumper The entire interview on part 1 is on the Paul Merton Collection DVD.

I've only just noticed that his face just merges into his neck, he doesn't have a jawline. He's so awesome that he doesn't need one.

Mertons superman because he shed that beard like a champ.

also, we need a younger parky to interview interesting modern and older guests.
although it is said that he really had to fight to have people like jonathan miller on.
amazing, but dick cavett ( he's american ) had an entire week just for jonathan miller. isn't that amazing? back in the seventies, it was.

i think this sort of wit is in need of a revival

I pay for my television licience so why the hell should I have to watch adverts attatched to BBC YouTube videos???
NaMgKCa 2 years ago 17
There two different companys is why.
myg0tpurepunk 2 years ago 2
Because people like me who live in other countries don't pay a licence fee, and they have to cover that.
AtheistBrit 2 years ago
License? what on earth are you referring to?
Clarinerd617 2 years ago
in the UK you have to have a licence in order to watch the BBC. The BBC doesnt have adverts.

get an "ad blocker" if you use Firefox.
and if you don't use Firefox... why the hell aren't you???
glebber 2 years ago
ah, don't just settle for ad blocker, I've been using some scripts for greasemonkey as well.
AdBlock Pro is the best blocker, though...

Maybe it was the beard talking, bad mouthing Deaton.
Merton looks like Widdecombe.

So are the corresponding parts of these two interviews on here or is somebody at BBC Worldwide have a laugh?
OriTheEep 2 years ago 4
I don't think "BBC Worldwide" exists outside of this Youtube account but yes, I believe sombody at the BBC is indeed having a grand old laugh.

Same with the Ewan McGregor interview. In the first one he didn't have a beard, and in the second part he had one!
DarkLordJabba 2 years ago 2
Also, he's wearing a black red shirt in this one and a black one in the other.
