Saw them on successive nights @ Hammy Odeon in '79! Cool, brilliant and breathtaking. Would say awesome but that's a crap American word, these days...
seen them from the first line on castle and downingtown,just for the fans of alba,tiki from belgrade,serbia,not to mention chills upon mi spine during solos,once in a lifetime
I saw Thin Lizzy at the Colston Hall in Bristol in 1979, what a force of nature they were! I have never heard music like it before or since. Philip Lynott is greatly missed
I was able to visit Phillip's grave twice in Dublin, it was in the late '90s before 9/11. I have rarely felt like I was doing something important, but Dublin and the surrounding areas are really great and it was right after the Philomania so I wasn't alone
I once I saw in a video that one of the guys (I think it was Phil) used some kind of foot pedal on which you can play some keyboard harmonics, very basic tool, but effective if you only need some keyboard backing.
I saw some documentary couple of years back, i think jim fitzpatrick, who did most of the albumcovers and was a close friend to phil, said that his father was ethiopean.
He was actualy born in West Bromwich England, Philomina (his mom) fled the workhouse from there to Ireland via Manchester, amid the stigma that was attached to a white womon having a black child, etc, thanks again sabfan i just love this.
Wow incredible! i was actually at this gig with my mate Mac. He didn`t have a ticket but got into the gig. We were right down at the front, me in front of Scott, Mac in front of Philo.
I was lucky enough to spend my teens through the great thin lizzy days , never missed a concert. . castlebar,rds ,slane ,cavan and many others .The good old days!!!
My home town, I was priveleged to be at this gig,superb song only for the specialists. Wouldnt be appreciated by people generally today. Long live phil's music
@theone827: I had the honour and privilege of seeing the man play en encore at a Gary Moore gig @ Manchester Apollo in September '85 on the 'Run For Cover' tour (after they'd made up and 4 months before Phil died). They played 'Out in The Fields' (which was a new release then), 'Military Man' (the b-side, as I recall) and 'Parisienne Walkways' together. Phil looked as if he hadn't slept for about a week then but the crowd loved it.
@simonwebster2036 I was at that very gig. I met them both after the concert. I have loads of photos. Great night. I was on the floor on my dad's shoulders (I was very young at the time)
littlefirestarter is 100% right, phil's father was a black brazilian, but who gives a fuck about obama or any other politician, leave that shit elsewhere
Long live drugs of any kind: the members of Thin Lizzy are carrying this song into the spiritual spheres in Preston. I have the original yellow vinyl version of this concert and...something happens durig this song.
This is one of the great undiscovered songs of the classic rock era. Beatiful solos...... Suprised music franchises such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band pay it much attention.... oh well. I like songs that arent popular anyway.
You don't need to be IRISH to absolutely love Thin Lizzy - they were and are the best and only Rock and Roll band. Phil Lynott is the very essence of a Rock STAR!!!
to theone827 & black sabfan I did away bak when..... and they were abolutely fantastic what a major loss to the music world

Hammersmith Odeon for me too. Enoyed the Robbo years, but Gary Moore was better on the longer solos. Best band ever - sorry Olly!

And errrr....
Anyone really compared the biography of Lynott and Barack Obama:
black African father who disappeared;
white mom who went abroad;
white granny who co-parents him;
wins over white hearts in hard rock and American politics;
loved drugs ;-);
media loves him;
two daughters;
humour.....
Narrowcaster 3 years ago
Thats well noticed but Phil Lynott's father was Brazilian not African
littlefirestarter 3 years ago
Wikipedia and others maintain his father is Brazilian, others believe he's Nigerian, including Phil's mom...
Narrowcaster 3 years ago
Well according to the Rocker, he was certainly a black South American.l

no no she says brazilian! i interviewed her, she lives in my town
