Hello, I have a question for everyone who reads this. I'm from the Netherlands, and I want to build a quarterpipe, but many ramp plans say that I have to use ''Masonite.'' But I don't know what Masonite is. If you read this, will you reply please? Thanks.
do u think i could make a rail with a pipe and blocks of wood, how would i attach the pipe to the wood, i want to use it to snowboard or scooter if it would work
just make a upside down v shape out of wood and cut out a spot for a rail to sit in, then get a drill and drill a larger hole in the top and to drill in to your wood make a smaller hole. (use bits for drilling metal!!) then screw it in the the wood
@FRUITLOOPER42596 yeah i am in the same dilema i have a piece of pipe and some pieces of wood and just drill a hole in the ends of the pipe and drill through onto the wood
if i make a rail like this I will put up a video so look back in the winter
Good job, youve build a great rail, i have one sugguesteon if u ever build a second, the way you layed your pipe our is somewhat wrong, try to have the pipes touching each other, so if u do a50-50 or tail press your board doesnt edge into the crevase/
ya its just that i didnt want the wood to show or cut the edges. surprisingly, i have caught my edge alot on the OUTSIDE part. its whack. glad u liked the video
yeah, another idea is, i know burton does this in their stash, buy really strong wood, so like oak or something, but just as the top, my dad works in the buisness side of a big company, so i just ask him to call up operations to get my hdpe :)
thats actually pretty sick man id just recomend you make it like 3 feet longer so you can get a better feel for locking and holding your tricks plus when you get better you wont be wisshing you made it longer
yeah i noticed i just made my rail using this video and it helped me alot. PVC doesnt crack either. and u dont need that much sppeed to get all the way across
does any one know how much a small piece of sheet metal costs? I was just going to make like a small box by nailing a piece of sheet metal onto a piece of wood. like a thick one.
what are you talking about!? i can go sideways and everything. my ski friends could hit it too. i acctually had to turn to use this rail for seshes and i had no problems
snowboard but if your wondering about that because you wanna know what its for, it can be used for both obviously. and the reason why it is only about 6 feet long is because i didnt have alot of space back then.
Did you drill through the top and how did you fix the pvc piping to ther stand? Did you drill all the way through and the bottom and put in a bolt and a washer on the bottom which hangs through the stand? How big was the piping what was the diameter?
i think the piping was 2 inches wide but it really dosnt matter, its your call, its ok to chose your own size as this isnt the only way to make a rail =p. what i did for the tubes was i drilled right through the wood and the tube at the same time in one go so it would fit better. just watch from 1:00 to get the understanding
no offence but mine was so much better it was a 18 foot long metal pole and the two ends where bent down to a mellow angle and i had really good bases but we used some expensive equiptment to build it but it is supper nice
haha, good question but i dont really know. my friend has a pvc rail very similar to mine for about 3 years and looks like new. its really all up to you. this video was just to kinda help i guess. you dont have to follow my recipe (haha) exactly. go out and have fun with it, experiment and just come back and tell me about it.
i only use pvc for all my rails exept for a couple metal rails we had free from a dumpster :D and seriously if you make the base very solid you wont have any problems i use them for skiing and some of my friends snowboard they use them as well i use them for skateboarding and fruitbooting so seriously it is the best thing
well i mean like some people would want to build the exact same thing and dont want to do the measurements and math all by themselves. its more of me giving the basics and stuff.
hey me again ya i did make a finished wood rail btw (finished wood is basicly wood flooring) but i cant make a vid because i kinda broke my wrist and cant do mutch for a while
hey man nice job im defintly sub btw have u tried using finished wood for a rail? i tried it and its pretty nice but its low and long , like 8ft long
glad u like the video and thanks for the sub. i have not tried finished wood for a rail but if tell me what it is and mabey make a video of it or something. thanks mang
it was about an inch or two thick and 6 feet long. glad to help. it dosnt mean much except for the bolt pilot driving but you can definetly make it any size you want.
i was trying to find the easiest and lowest costing way to build a rail so no it wasnt. i think i said in the video it was about 40 bucks for all the stuff and we even got a new container of washer fluid with it!
hey man thanks for the nice comment. the cross supports/stands might be a little long but i just cover it with snow and then the rail is pretty much burried and you cant trip over them
really, it seems easier to install, and i saw some dude do it with plexi and it looked sweet because u could see his sponsors and stuffinder it...thanks for respoinding ill sub.
thanks for the sub. i just heard from a buddy that u caaannn use plexiglass but u need metal on the edges or something else to protect the edges or else the plexiglass will chip away and his rail with plexiglass the little shards and chips went into his base. so if u would like a good base and a longer life span for your board/skis then dont use plexiglass. glad to help and to be able to help all u guys out
ya they are a bit wide but it was all i could build and we got those pvc tubes cuz they were perfect length and we wouldnt have to cut them but hey im happy with it
that sucks

when you go on the rail from the ramp.. dos the PVC slow you down a lot ??? does it need wax

mabey if its dry but just put snow on it and most of the time you dont even need to cuz its everywhere anyways i guess

you really dont want a metal box unless you have a backup board. also nailing metal into wood and then sliding on it is really not a good idea

SkiHippie82 2 years ago
oh and another question.. sorry that im retarded with this.. but does the hardware store generally sell this pvc?
thanks
SkiHippie82 2 years ago
the pvc is basic plumbing equipment. pilot driving is drilling a hole in the piece before you completly screw in the next
