  • that sucks

  • will try it one day if I have enough time

  • @flowmeterdirectory back when I did this it was a quick Saturday project without even having the materials on hand.

  • does it blend? that is the question.

  • thumbs up if u like mgmt

  • how long did you make your rail?

  • @SuburbianKnights cant quite remember the exact length but i encourage you to make it however you like your to be if you make one.

  • @SuburbianKnights im thinking about 5 feet 7 inch

  • fuck this song

  • cool

  • i am sorry but that is not how u make a rail if u know how to weld then u have a start

  • @iitaylor10 i dont see you welding a rail anywhere on youtube dumbass

  • could this work for skateboarding?

  • thats gay and ur bad grandpa hes all happy

  • do u think i could make a rail with a pipe and blocks of wood, how would i attach the pipe to the wood, i want to use it to snowboard or scooter if it would work

  • i know nothing about scootering. look at the video

  • just make a upside down v shape out of wood and cut out a spot for a rail to sit in, then get a drill and drill a larger hole in the top and to drill in to your wood make a smaller hole. (use bits for drilling metal!!) then screw it in the the wood

  • @FRUITLOOPER42596 yeah i am in the same dilema i have a piece of pipe and some pieces of wood and just drill a hole in the ends of the pipe and drill through onto the wood

if i make a rail like this I will put up a video so look back in the winter

  • another thing u could do is find an old basketball net (or at least the supports) and convert it into a rail.

  • sure

  • lol

  • Good job, youve build a great rail, i have one sugguesteon if u ever build a second, the way you layed your pipe our is somewhat wrong, try to have the pipes touching each other, so if u do a50-50 or tail press your board doesnt edge into the crevase/

  • ya its just that i didnt want the wood to show or cut the edges. surprisingly, i have caught my edge alot on the OUTSIDE part. its whack. glad u liked the video

  • yeah, another idea is, i know burton does this in their stash, buy really strong wood, so like oak or something, but just as the top, my dad works in the buisness side of a big company, so i just ask him to call up operations to get my hdpe :)

  • i built a 10' long one, with 4 feet, and 3 1.5 inch pvc for $40

  • wow alot of people are using my video to help! glad to hear it worked for others!

  • thats actually pretty sick man id just recomend you make it like 3 feet longer so you can get a better feel for locking and holding your tricks plus when you get better you wont be wisshing you made it longer

  • glad it helped. enjoy!

  • ha u can buy a rail for 40 way to waste your money

  • thats not what this is about. its way more fun building i think

  • when you go on the rail from the ramp.. dos the PVC slow you down a lot ??? does it need wax

  • mabey if its dry but just put snow on it and most of the time you dont even need to cuz its everywhere anyways i guess

  • ok thx.

  • pvc is incredibly slippery when wet man you dont have to worry about it slowing you down at all

  • yeah i noticed i just made my rail using this video and it helped me alot. PVC doesnt crack either. and u dont need that much sppeed to get all the way across

  • Haha I agree why is everyone hating when you were just trying to help? Haha 5*s

  • How did you secured the tubes?

  • badass rail!

does any one know how much a small piece of sheet metal costs? I was just going to make like a small box by nailing a piece of sheet metal onto a piece of wood. like a thick one.

  • you really dont want a metal box unless you have a backup board. also nailing metal into wood and then sliding on it is really not a good idea

  • cuz of the nails? idk i think it will be fine. and i do have a backup board

  • How did you secured the tubes?

  • its in the video

  • how long should the cross suport things at the bottom be? like 2 feet?

  • mabey 3 or 3 and a half

  • whats the song name ??

  • THANK YOU finally man, someone with a great affordable rail. but just one question, to get the pvc in, what is 'pilot drive'?

  • oh and another question.. sorry that im retarded with this.. but does the hardware store generally sell this pvc?

    thanks

  • the pvc is basic plumbing equipment. pilot driving is drilling a hole in the piece before you completly screw in the next

  • construction sites "give" them away for "free"

  • that's how we do it in sweden bro ^^

  • good rail dude.....i like metal piping better...but still good stuff

  • thanks

  • PVC IS CRAP!! For one you cant hit it at angles, two it will dig in if u dont 50 it. 1 star for pvc. MGMT rocks though :)

  • what are you talking about!? i can go sideways and everything. my ski friends could hit it too. i acctually had to turn to use this rail for seshes and i had no problems

  • are you retarded ie been hitting my pvc rail for 2 days straight and boardsliding it not just 50 50 it works great

  • nah its actually pretty good. terrain parks use it

  • uhm... you can hit everything at angles if you're good. you probably suck and your mom pays for fancy hdpe..

  • shoulda made it longer and i bet its really wobbly must tip alot

  • nope, not at all

  • yeah it does

  • u didnt even use pressurized wood

  • yes i did

  • thats the same way how im building mine but mine is going to be 10 feet long

  • mgmt is the fuckin bomb

  • @Joseguy56 i know dude i love them

  • 5* star for MGMT :)

  • whats the song called?

  • MGMT - Electric feel

  • thanks : )

  • good choice of music

  • dude thats sooo sick but next time make it longer... Do you ski Or Board??

  • snowboard but if your wondering about that because you wanna know what its for, it can be used for both obviously. and the reason why it is only about 6 feet long is because i didnt have alot of space back then.

  • why dont you hawe a video of how good it works?

  • because i dont need to

  • Did you drill through the top and how did you fix the pvc piping to ther stand? Did you drill all the way through and the bottom and put in a bolt and a washer on the bottom which hangs through the stand? How big was the piping what was the diameter?

  • i think the piping was 2 inches wide but it really dosnt matter, its your call, its ok to chose your own size as this isnt the only way to make a rail =p. what i did for the tubes was i drilled right through the wood and the tube at the same time in one go so it would fit better. just watch from 1:00 to get the understanding

  • o and watch the image before that

  • nice

  • how long is ur rail

  • i wanted 5.5 feet because i didnt have much space back then.

  • ik that thats y i asked becuz i liv in WI

  • no offence but mine was so much better it was a 18 foot long metal pole and the two ends where bent down to a mellow angle and i had really good bases but we used some expensive equiptment to build it but it is supper nice

  • also did you get your wood pressure treated?

  • yes it makes it acctually last the winters

  • Can you send me a full material list?

  • =p thanks

  • how much are pvc tubes

  • around ten dollars. not sure really. i cant remember but they arent expensive

  • thx

  • depends on what size

they are like $3 - $5 for the white pvc pipes

  • what song is this

  • aww.. y didnt u grind on it xD

  • how did you connect the PVC to the to the rail?

  • sorry, its hard to explain it here, its in the video so just watch it.

  • how much is everything in all($)

  • i cant see the darn writing!

  • thats why its in the darn annotion! haha

  • what is the name of that song

  • read some comments son

  • wtf u think i doo idiot

  • mgmt - electric feel

  • how much is the wood? i dont go looking around a local hardware store much.

  • like $20-$30

  • 20-30$ for all the wood, or 20-30$ for each piece? cause im sure they arent that high O.o

  • i said total.

  • What type of wood did you use?

  • i dunno what type of tree it was but i got it all at home depot. they are 2x6's

  • pine

  • wow you no nothing about music if you dont no mgmt

  • song name?

  • artist: MGMT song: electric feel

  • dude is pvc seriously the best choice for a rail, i mean i no its suposed to b kinda cheap but wudnt a rail wit pvc last like.....a year at maximum

  • haha, good question but i dont really know. my friend has a pvc rail very similar to mine for about 3 years and looks like new. its really all up to you. this video was just to kinda help i guess. you dont have to follow my recipe (haha) exactly. go out and have fun with it, experiment and just come back and tell me about it.

  • i only use pvc for all my rails exept for a couple metal rails we had free from a dumpster :D and seriously if you make the base very solid you wont have any problems i use them for skiing and some of my friends snowboard they use them as well i use them for skateboarding and fruitbooting so seriously it is the best thing

  • i dont want to argue but its like comparing apples and oranges between the two. both can do all that but there really isnt a better one overall.

  • i know but 1 is way cheaper (pvc) was just saying it worked well and was very cheap

  • hdpe is the type of plastic tht ski resorts use for the boxes. it costs alot more tho. but obv last wayyy longer if ski mountains r using it

  • yo thats a prety dope raill just a little bit longer would be better tho

    :P

  • cool that looks fun

  • nice vid but "sorry if I;m not exact"???? lol

  • well i mean like some people would want to build the exact same thing and dont want to do the measurements and math all by themselves. its more of me giving the basics and stuff.

  • needs to be like 10ft longer but nice job

  • i agree haha. i dont have the space in my backyard or the storage space when i aint using it

  • i can't read what it says (in the video, not the annotations)

  • i couldnt either. thats why i put the text in annotations so you can read it. im glad some one agreed

  • why is the video no longer avaliable, fix this please! ahha

  • what?

  • huh? i'm watching it right now

  • hey me again ya i did make a finished wood rail btw (finished wood is basicly wood flooring) but i cant make a vid because i kinda broke my wrist and cant do mutch for a while

  • aww sorry buddy. dont worry about. post a response when you can. thanks!

  • hey man nice job im defintly sub btw have u tried using finished wood for a rail? i tried it and its pretty nice but its low and long , like 8ft long

  • glad u like the video and thanks for the sub. i have not tried finished wood for a rail but if tell me what it is and mabey make a video of it or something. thanks mang

  • what song is this man

  • electric feel by MGMT

  • how thick pvc did u use? thanks for the help

  • it was about an inch or two thick and 6 feet long. glad to help. it dosnt mean much except for the bolt pilot driving but you can definetly make it any size you want.

  • was it hard to build?

  • i was trying to find the easiest and lowest costing way to build a rail so no it wasnt. i think i said in the video it was about 40 bucks for all the stuff and we even got a new container of washer fluid with it!

  • thats a really short rail i am about to go to home depot to buy stuff for a 15 ft rail should be dope

  • MGMT- electric feel

  • hey great video just one question..

how long were the last 3 peices? the supporters

  • i think they were about 2-2 1/2 feet long. you can make them any size you want

  • the last three pieses are to long u should cut them if u wanna board slide but awsome vid dude also nice vid

  • hey man thanks for the nice comment. the cross supports/stands might be a little long but i just cover it with snow and then the rail is pretty much burried and you cant trip over them

  • is 2x6 the longest you can get?

  • haha im no where near to knowing something about lumber! you can get any size of lumber and length. its all up to you about the length of the rail.

  • is it possible to use plexiglass insted of pvc tubes?

  • hmmm. not to sure. i wouldnt do it cuz it would look wierd, might break and would be harder to install

  • really, it seems easier to install, and i saw some dude do it with plexi and it looked sweet because u could see his sponsors and stuffinder it...thanks for respoinding ill sub.

  • thanks for the sub. i just heard from a buddy that u caaannn use plexiglass but u need metal on the edges or something else to protect the edges or else the plexiglass will chip away and his rail with plexiglass the little shards and chips went into his base. so if u would like a good base and a longer life span for your board/skis then dont use plexiglass. glad to help and to be able to help all u guys out

  • thanks alot! i think im gonna use hdpe and pvc pipe for my other one

  • the 2 pvc's are too far apart, you need bigger pvc so that they are closer together

  • ya they are a bit wide but it was all i could build and we got those pvc tubes cuz they were perfect length and we wouldnt have to cut them but hey im happy with it

  • love that song

    such a stoner band. ahhah

  • nice vid

  • y thank you gud sir
