  • So, I was trying to figure out what 汽車 meant, since I knew densha, but not the other. Technically, according to Nihongodict, it means "steam train" (kisha), but effectively means non-electric locomotive. The radical on the left side of 汽 means water. Interesting!

  • FUCK UNSKIPPABLE ADS!!!!!

  • @VZombieSlayerV Honda is a Japanese company, so they are Hondas.

  • very musical, like a disco

  • does it still exists?

  • no it was europe

  • one train went pretty fast

    !

  • gates were closed waaaaaaaaaaaaay to early

  • @IAmPistonHondo Haha no, that was secure. The time frame used here in the video is standard in Europe also. Because noone else in the world seem to need these 2mile long trains like the US have, ALSO noone would be so tempted to cross the tracks before the last train has passed by. Thats a thing just Americans seem to be doing far too often. Think about it.

  • @conhopper78 ive seen many videos of americans totally being owned by trains

  • bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbdbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbdbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbdbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbdbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbdbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb thumbs up if you found 5 d's

  • unique crossing with 2 different sounds!

  • this crossing has electronic bell AND mechanical bell both !

  • @ausbegosh And you have both pimples and pores! Congratulations!!

  • i have 2 things to say.number one...why are both bells goin the same time?two...the cars look like hondas.hondas freak the life outta me and give me nightmares.chacha

  • @VZombieSlayerV it is jap

  • WTF

  • COOL!

  • Japaneses are so cool~!

  • imagine hearing that at 1:15 am!

  • I would be all over the place trying to find the "snooze" button.

  • very creepy :S

  • @TheIzzy41 the signals made some pretty freakish sounds didn't they?

  • @AmazingJames1987 yeah!!!!

  • To jest w Japonii czy w Chinach??

  • This is Japan, giving an example of level crossing signal...

  • What exactly does 汽車 on the sign mean when there is no steam train?

  • @DrJams i think it's the company... it's shortened name is that.

  • There are two tracks.

Each track is operated by different companies, Ichibata Densha and JR West.

Ichibata Densha (一畑電車) has the track on this side, showing "電車", ringing mechanical bell sound.

the other is owned by JR West (JR西日本), their signal shows "汽車" and makes electronic sound

  • @twintailflyer ...JAPAN ! Stop slaughtering endangered whales or Australia will destroy you !

  • @soshmed1943 Whale meat is very delicious.

  • Why two signals, one for each track?

One signal is enough for both.

Are those electric sensors aimed at each other across the road? Are they to detect an object on the road? (One is above the (HQ) symbol, the other on the left side of the screen.)

Nice, well framed, steady tripod-mounted video.

    Thank you.

  • 2 signal to different it between two type of trains

  • Thank you, twintailflyer, for your excellent details.

But why does it matter from what direction and on which track a train is approaching?

    Vehicles and pedestrians must stop.

Do we see sensors that detect a vehicle stopped (stuck) on the tracks?

    Thank you, also, cloudteo.

    RWG Denver, Colorado USA

  • My kids love that - thank you very much. Uniquely Japanese Kang-Kang.

  • EPIC!

  • Comment removed

  • QUE DIJO???

  • wahyu hihgg klik kkhgthhjiiim

  • Shees, you blink and you miss.

  • WTF???

  • Apparently farmers are using the same line as the normal passenger trains.... I dunno... I still think "WTF" was the right thing to say!

  • chikatetse nino-i-mas

  • ale bieda

  • What JR Line is this?

  • It is sanin trunk line.

This train is "MATSUKAZE" limited express.

  • HAHA, lol sound

  • nice lights.

  • what does the sign under the signal say?

  • They both say "train". There are two words for it in Japanese, it depends if it's an Intercity (or something) or a suburb train.

  • [][][][](cool in a diffret way to wite)

  • wear is this china or japan?

  • I think it was japan

  • It was Japan.

  • WHY TWO SIGNALS?

    Diesel train has electronic bell.

Electric train has real metal bell.

What a coincidence that both signals started at the same time!

What is meaning of lighted rectangular

[....] signs below the red signal lamps?

    Thank you.

    RG Denver, Colorado USA

  • The lighted rectangular boxes are for different line or directions.

  • Thank you.

What would it matter which railroad line or which direction?

One must stop and wait regardless.

  • Actually, it's what rail it's on... there's a road which is BETWEEN the rails, I am guessing because one of the lights lit up with only the far rail./

  • I was about to joke and say "BECAUSE TWO TRAINS" but it looks like it's for real! It's quite clever since some people cross the railway after the train is gone even if the signal is still red. With this system everybody knows that two trains are coming.

  • Yes.

Sad if one is not smart enough to wait for the gates to raise and signals to cease, but cross without looking both ways.

We HAD such an idiot here.

After a westbound train passed on the nearest track, a Mexican man drove around the lowered gate and was killed by an eastbound train on the next track.

He would have won a Darwin Award, but he apparently had already fathered children.

I oppose the extra signs just for stupid people.

  • Yeah even if stupid, nobody deserves death...

  • If one is stupid enough to get hit by a train, maybe one deserves to die.

    One earned it.

    Darwin.

And one will not pass on inferior genes to offspring.

  • Darwinism, right?

  • True Darwinism would be NO signals.

One must look for one's self and determine if it is safe.

I really wonder why they bother with the expense, wiring, circuitry of a signalling system to indicate from what direction a train is coming.

    The direction does not matter.

  • That's simple. Signals will come on up to 30 before a train is even present. The second reason is that the tracks can be bi-directional with multiple trains occupying both tracks. When two trains are stopped simultaneously at a station which is often right next to the grade it informs the drive of the direction of the train moving. It is not as always apparently as with North American railroading.

  • The mechanical bell and bottom pair of lights means "train approaching on track 1" in this case the track near the camera. The electronic sound and both pair of lights mean "train approaching on track 2" from this view the track at the other side. The rectangular box [__] explains this to the drivers.

PS: "Diesel train has electronic bell. Electric train has real metal bell." They are both electric.

  • That helps clear things up. Thanks!

  • where is this and what road is it. it is beautifuul

  • From the same people that put braille in the sidewalk to let the blind know where they are. That's why Japan is where they are and America we are where we are.

  • it sounds like a techno song lol

  • Japanese level crossings are cool.

  • Look! Is that a teardrop bell?

  • Is the bell for electric train and the siren for train?

  • Thank you, 80sGuy.

989, one is a metal bell, the other simply an electonic bell, though it does not sound much like a bell.

    Both are electric trains.

  • Oh, first train is diesel? 2nd electric.

But why the two signals and two signs? One must stop no matter which kind of train it is.

dahood07 reveals his very low I.Q. by his comment.

  • What town is this, it looks a bit like Lake Kizaki, I've just seen pictures of Kizaki I've never been there but I want to go.

  • WOOOOOW!!! all that for a two car train. this was stupid!!

  • Why? One could be killed just as easily killed by a one car train.

But no need for multiple signals. One set is enough.

What do they do at four or more track grade crossings?

8 seconds before gates lower. 49 seconds before 1st train. 1:17 before 2nd train arrives.

  • Elegant? Too wide and awkward looking.

Why two sets of lights? If 4 tracks, four pairs of signals stacked?

What do the lighted signs read? Close track/far track? Thank you,

  • "What do the lighted signs read? Close track/far track?"

They say "train" and "electric train". Don't ask me how that info could be useful. The double lights are a really good idea. Eliminates the problem of someone starting across after the first train and getting hit by the second train.

  • I think electric train means Light Rail

  • Those signal lamps are very elegant.

  • Fascinating and puzzling why each signal represents a different track. Both just happen to activate almost simultaneously. Great, clear, steady video. Thank you, Robert

  • Japanese railway crossing.
