Bonne chance :-)!
In a new interview Angela gave they are no longer divorcing!! Google search and look for the romanian article "Nu mai divorteaza". There is a video of this interview as well on youtube- just search her name.
Okay - the night they got married, they performed in the 25th Anniversary Gala for James Levine ( April 1996 NYC) Actually it was Rudolph Giuliani ( great operat fan) who officiated. That was the night Alagna & Bryn Terfel sang the most beautiful rendition of Tenor/Baritone duet from the Pearl Fishers ever recorded. You can see it on You Tube...
@HeidelbergSoprano -It was an intention in this sense 2 years ago but they have never divorced.Besides, they have been together since March. :-))))) Finger crossed!
@emotion70 Ah I didn't know that my apologizes I'm happy they've found it in themselves not to give up on love because they are such a beautiful couple ^.^
@HeidelbergSoprano -It was an intention in this sense 2 years ago but they have never divorced.Besides, they have been together since March. :-))))) Fingers crossed!
They got married in 1996, and a few days later they did a performance of La Bohéme in the Met. After the performance, James Levine announced to the publicum that they are married now.
i believe it was massennet's margarete; i've seen clips of of alagna playing opposite her as faust, even though they're playing a clip of vissi d'arte in the background at one point
gounod's faust, actually, i think. at least, it is the exact same production/costumes as the gounod she did at covent gardens. did massennett write one, too? with boito's mephistofele and gounod's faust i get confused by all the other reincarnations. oddly, i've seen that whole broadcast from cg with alagna as faust. hmm.
actually, you're completely right. i had my french composers confused. i referred to it as margarete because that is an alternate title to gounod's faust. my bad
i know what you mean, i often get confused about french composers, too. i wonder why they are so tricky..? with me it's always debussy and poulenc. i don't know why...
Yes, it was Charles Gounod's Faust. I think I was in the audience at this performance at Covent Garden, around Sept 2006. ( I was at two A cast performances and one B cast perf.) Faust was played by (obviously not Alagna in this perf.) a promising Polish Tenor. Piotr Beczala. Memphistopheles was played by Orlin Anastassov. I have the programme in my London home. You can recognise by the costume/design that it was David McVicar's production.
They are the perfect couple, in opera and in real life. I wish we could see more singers being able to get along as good as Roberto and Angela do on stage.
I'm a HUGE fan of this!!!! is this all or is there another part before it? (it starts with 'une heure plus tard', or 'one hour later' so i'm assuming they started earlier, hehe)
