hey bazy. do you know what effects the drummer on the "trickle" album by olive usedon his drums. i think his name is lammie. i hope your health is well. thanks. billy
I love questions like this because it breaks me out of the shell and gets me listening to new music. I am listening to this song for the first time right now and I am totally digging it. First off, I googled the group and could not find any information on a drummer for them. Now I have found them on Napster and I am hearing some definate drum machines / Keyboards being used for drum track. See below for the rest>>>>>
At the very beginning of the song I hear what sounds like Falange is being used...but I have that same sound on my keyboard without using a falange. I am pretty sure that all the rest of the sounds on the track here are just drum machine sounds direct. If it is an actual drummer then there is no doubt they are using a Gate, Compressor, and Falange...but again...I am thinking drum machine here. Thanks for turning me on to the music...I am downloading it now. BzB :-)
Also...thanks for your comment and for asking about my health. I am doing great at the moment with no signs of slowing down. Check out my latest live videos from last weekend here on my channel page and you will know that I am still rockin. thanks again. BzB :-)
im glad your health is doing great. i found out that the drummer on the album is a guy named vinnie lammi. i agree on the compression, gate, flange. i think hes also running his drums through a modulated filter? something like a mooger fooger or sherman filterbank. just a guess. aha has a song called i wish i cared thats similar effects. sorry to ramble on, adn thank you so much for responding and all your help. billy
Not a problem dude. I am glad you turned me on to that music. I downloaded a bunch of their stuff...I let other friends hear it today...everyone enjoyed it. Thanks. BzB :-)
Hey bazy!!! Got a question. Have you played any dream theater? I am working on a couple. If you haven't listened or watched, do a youtube search for Mike Portnoy Hell's Kitchen. This one is fun to play, even though I can't hit everything. Beautiful song, great drumming. Check it out!!! Love to see your take on it!!!
I will take a look when I can get a spare minute. It is doubtful that I will be trying to match licks with Portnoy though...He is awesome. I with his signature snare on my kit. BzB :-)
Thanks for the comment. I had to stop taking requests when the list hit 400 songs. I will never be able to make that many vids...but I am always interested what songs people like out there. Tell me what song you would have requested. BzB :-)
hi bazybeats, im gonna buy a new drumset, i had a drumkit that cost 100 dollars and im gonna buy elecric drums now and i don't want them to cost more than 600 dollars, i was thinking of dtx yamaha, but what do you think im only 14 years old.
I will be back soon. I have had so many issues trying to get it back together to make a shoot. I had camera issues, health issues again, and just plain busy issues. Well...now I bought new cameras, I am finally coming out of this cold and I have finished up a lot of what was keepin me busy...I am going to try a new shoot next weekend. BzB :-)
Oh, and I was wondering what kind of set you have and do you know if the Roland sets allow you to program specific drum sounds to each drum and not just use a kit.
I have the TD20 and yes you can program specific sounds and even taylor make your sounds to suit your needs. See my video "Left Side Versatility" There is more there. BzB :-)
Hey ive been looking at getting an electric set for a while, I played the Roland TD-6SW at a church I visited and I liked it a lot, but Im still not sure what kind of set to get for my first electric one.
hey bazy, ive watched and commented on pretty much all ur videoes, i love your work, i was just wondering if u could check out the drum video i have posted and give me some pointers, would love to hear back, thanks
I stay terribly busy just keeping up with my e-mail and I am trying hard to watch the vids that folks point me to...It may be a few days before I get a chance to check it out and I cant promise anything but I will try. BzB :-)
oh! what duz tht have to offer? duz tht have mesh heads? in 1 of ur other vids u say that the heads are all the same tention so they dont damage the sensors x
Yep...so each of the toms responds like a snare drum. You can actually do press rolls on the lowest tom. It feels like real drums...just a whole lot better and more comfortable. BzB :-)
Yes...they should be a bit tight in order to keep from playing through the drum right into the sensors...On the other hand, it is my preference to have them as tight as I have them...they could be a bit looser. BzB ;-)
I think its just that i played on an electric kit in a music store, and i didnt like the way the felt. That drum kit had the rubber pads and it all felt too fake...almost like a toy! i apreciate what you can do with these kits, but i guess its just not the real thing at the end of the day...if u catch my drift. :S
Well there you have it...you played on a rubber pad kit and you are basing your disinterest in electronics on that experience...that is like comparing a sloth to a bucking bronco. You should try the mesh pads and then let me know what you think...and if you still hate electronics then that is your preference...BzB :-)
hey again bazy, I just want to hear your opinion about the Roland HD-1 kit because im looking for a cheap kit and cant really find any, but the HD-1 is pretty cheap. what do you think?
I frequently hear the names of all these Roland kits that are under 2,000. But I dont have any personal knowlege of any of them below the V-stage level. I can only tell you that I would bank my money on any Roland kit beating out all competitors in it's class for whatever value of money you are spending. BzB :-)
hi again, i went to the drumshop yesterday and saw the yamaha dtxpress, really good quality but price is high, i can also check the Roland TD-3KW, whats better?
Hey pwner...I know about the DTX...I owned one of the first ones...and it was good but these days I stick by Roland products...I do not have any first hand knowlege of the TD3kw...but I am sure that it is awsome for its price class. BzB :-)
ill call another drumshop @ sunday and check the price of the TD3KW. it looks kinda good, and ebay says its 1000$ cheaper than the DTX, lets hope the quality is the same!
Well I can tell you that Yamaha runs a very close second to Roland and their kits are pretty close to the same in each price range until you get up to the TD20, then Yamaha has nothing to compete with it. If I were you I would research it online through the factory and dealers and see what each kit has to offer. BzB :-)
i dont think theres a chance ill every buy td20 :D it costs too much, and ye i am comparing what is better and both quality are really good, i just want the cheaper kit, which is roland's if im not wrong..
lol, ill buy them at the start of my vacation - 20/6 so i got some time..and I dont haev any vid cam that i can film myself :D i wouldnt anyway, too shy & i dont even know how to drum yet!
Hey bazybeats! i hope you still remember me, 3 months ago i posted a comment in one of your videos about buying electric drums, i havent buy one yet, but finally, i found a good kit, Roland HD-1 its cheap, and small {exactly fits my room}! u think starting playing with electric drums is bad? and at the teacher place ill drum with a acoustic place, is that ok to play with electric and acoustic at the same time? Thanks in advance.
Hi pwner...yes I remember you...I usually recomend that new drummers play acustic first but hey...if it works for you and you will have an opportunity to play some acustic and some electric then you should be alright. BzB :-)
I was also wondering if you had a chance to check out Thomas Lang. I went to his drum clinic last week and WOW, this guy is for real. He plays a very complex style. He also was very professional with no ego. I have seen so many drummers that have ego issues, not good! I also just sold my Pearl Reference kit and bought a TD -- 20. I believe this will greatly improve my playing ability. Practicing during the hours of 9-12 at night is not a problem now. Thanks
Hey Joey...it was a bass drum, snare..one tom that we were able to put on the bass drum and one tom that we shoved the bird cage in, then I had a sizzler cymbal with the sizzlers taken out (that was my ride), I had one 16 inch cymbal (Cracked), set of hi-hats and that was it. The coverings were pealing off and the cymbals were falling appart...the stands were very hard to push up and down. But I still love that kit. Wish I still had it. BzB :-)
Wow Dude...I never thought about that...That is so far out...maybe his spirit jumped into me...if I can say that without it being blasphemy. I have always been intriuged by his style and rhythms. Man...thanks for bringing that to my attention. BzB :-)
no problem lol i remembered that out of nowhere lol
he is one of my favourite all time drummers. he is the reason i started drumming. by the way today is my 1 year anniversary since i've started drumming check out my new videos
Dude (bonzo) I will try to remember to check out your vid tomorrow...I have to get to bed pretty quick...but if you dont see a comment on your vid within the next day or so from me then remind me please. BzB :-)
you told me to remind you to check out my new videos so i am i have 2 or 3 new videos one of them is me jamming with my friend on jimi hendrix's hey joe
Very down to earth guy and has a strong passion for drums. fantastic to see in the modern day world where no one cares. Nice one BzB im learning alot of things from watching your videos so for my sake and for everyone elses KEEP THEM COMMING!!! :D
Stevey192...thanks so much for that very sincere and heartfelt complement. I will gladly continue to create and post vids for the world to view as long the viewers are happy with the content I am providing. I think we all have a good thing going here and there is a very positive vibe from nearly all of my viewers. Thanks for posting a comment. BzB :-)
Hey bonzo man...sorry it took me a couple of days to get to your vids...I saw the Hey Joe vid...I love that song and you did it justice bro. The only thing I might suggest would be some eighth note tripplet fills in there...but that is just me...you sounded great though. BzB :-)
i have a new video up. it's not great personally i don't like it but i thought i'd post it anyways, i think my confidence is going up more like i don't get all nervous when i record
Thats cool Bonzo...I will come check it out when I get a minute...I am just the opposite of you though...I started out not being nervous and now I have stared to get nervous when I record because there are so many people out there with high expectations of me that it puts a little pressure on my vid making. But it is all cool...BzB :-)
oh that sucks, you should just try and ignore the camera and just do your thing like you normally do, just try and think that the video is only for you thats what helps me
I do try those techniques bonzo...but I still cant help but think about all those wonderful people out there that I would be letting down if the vid does not come out perfect. Believe me, the pressure is there no matter what you do. BzB :-)
hey bazy its arch here man, just wondered i checked your myspace page and looked at the heroes and was surprised to see buddy rich wasnt on there, what do you think of his drumming because i think hes amazing.
I wonder if you could do a drumming video like buddy in the futures
I do like Buddy...he just was not one of the major drummers that inspired me when I started. I felt that it would be phony to just list every cool drummer in the world on there. I do think he is awesome and all that...just not one of my main influences. Thanks for stopping by to inquire...BzB :-)
thank you for sharing your experience with us! as a beginner (expanding my instrumental horizon towards drums) i find your lessons very inspiring and helpfull.
That is exactly what I have been hoping for. Helping new drummers find their way. Welcome to the world of drumming. I will have more vids coming soon. I will be back to work on them tomorrow. BzB :-)
ok bzb.i was trying to say that your videos are really helpful for people( like me )that are starting playing the drums...thats all...no more..so continue drumming :D...greetings from PERU ;)
Cool...I wish I could have read it...but I am clueless with spanish. I have to put it in a translator and sometimes it just does not work. Thanks for the comment though. I appreciate it. BzB :-)
Ok...I put this one in Babel Fish and it came back kinda jumbled and with words that it did not understand...like Batacas...So help me out here...what is this saying someone??? BzB :-)
REAL NICE BAZY!been waiting for a stiry about you and now it´s here...BTW i´m gonna buy a guitar soon an electric one =D...just wanted to try something new out...but drumming is my main music interest!
Hello Professor Bazy. I've been watching your videos for awhile, admiring your fine electronic drumming. I've been playing the guitar for several years now, but in an effort to expand my musical capabilities, I recently ordered an electronic kit. I am extremely excited, so keep up the great videos coming and I'm sure many of us will keep watching!
Thanks so much Doohikee...Cool name by the way. Yes...I will keep the vids rolling. I have been working with a new beat or two for you guys. I will probably record some stuff this week. Keep watching. BzB :-)
Heya Bazy! Actually brought tears to my eyes watching this video when you said your reason for making your videos. Keep up the good work, drummers everywhere appreciate it! You're an awesome dude and its an honour knowing you!
Thanks V.S. I know you are one of the coolest dudes that I know. What ever happened to the art thing. Did the guys ever choose a piece that they wanted. I never heard back from you on that. Stay Cool Bro..BzB :-)
Yes sticky...I am hoping that it stays that way. The vast majority of people that comment and, or write to me are wonderful and they trully get the vibe that I am trying to send with my vids. It is all happy and good stuff. Thanks for being one of those people...BzB :-)
I have a drumset the same as your first, but ive been thinking about getting a new set, now i have a LINKO, ever heard of that? But i would like you to give me some tips about picking out a drumset! that would help me out alot. thanks alot. JM
Hey man...I will have to send you an e-mail on that one when I get some of my e-mails caught up...maybe later this weekend I can send you some info on how to research drum kits. BzB :-)
Thanks man...yea I am a freak like that...I am part Italian so if we are not talking with our hands then we are talking with whatever is in our hands. If my hands got cut off it would be like loosing my tongue :-) BzB
Thanks man...that vid has not been getting that many hits and I was beginning to wonder if anyone was digging it anymore. Glad to hear that you liked it. It was one of my favorite from the "Workout vids"
Awesome. first login on youtube in a good week or so and boom! brand new bazy vid. flawless :) can't wait until my tendonitis subsides and I can drum again; put some of this knowledge to use. In the meantime I've been thinking about buying an audio sampler off of my DJing friend, just so I can at least play around with rythms. but BB, got a question for you. Aside from healing, any advice you can offer about how best to spend my time in regards to learning more about drumming?
Hey Bazy,It's Indy337,
Hope all is well with you.
Haven't talked to you in awhile,Last saw you at Gators, haven't been to Tampa bay for a while.

Hey bonzo man...sorry it took me a couple of days to get to your vids...I saw the Hey Joe vid...I love that song and you did it justice bro. The only thing I might suggest would be some eighth note tripplet fills in there...but that is just me...you sounded great though. BzB :-)
bazybeats 4 years ago
thanks bazy that is inspirational coming from you keep those vids coming i check almost everyday lol Bonzo
bonzo3231 4 years ago
Not a problem Bonzo...make sure you let me know when you get your next vid up. BzB :-)

i have a new video up. it's not great personally i don't like it but i thought i'd post it anyways, i think my confidence is going up more like i don't get all nervous when i record
bonzo3231 4 years ago
Thats cool Bonzo...I will come check it out when I get a minute...I am just the opposite of you though...I started out not being nervous and now I have stared to get nervous when I record because there are so many people out there with high expectations of me that it puts a little pressure on my vid making. But it is all cool...BzB :-)
bazybeats 4 years ago
oh that sucks, you should just try and ignore the camera and just do your thing like you normally do, just try and think that the video is only for you thats what helps me
bonzo3231 4 years ago
I do try those techniques bonzo...but I still cant help but think about all those wonderful people out there that I would be letting down if the vid does not come out perfect. Believe me, the pressure is there no matter what you do. BzB :-)

hey bazy its arch here man, just wondered i checked your myspace page and looked at the heroes and was surprised to see buddy rich wasnt on there, what do you think of his drumming because i think hes amazing.
I wonder if you could do a drumming video like buddy in the futures
archipelligo 4 years ago

BzB :-)

Great stuff, hope you are well on the mend.
There's a good community spirit building around your vids, a sure sign that it's all good viewing. Class.

Yes sticky...I am hoping that it stays that way. The vast majority of people that comment and, or write to me are wonderful and they trully get the vibe that I am trying to send with my vids. It is all happy and good stuff. Thanks for being one of those people...BzB :-)

Awesome. first login on youtube in a good week or so and boom! brand new bazy vid. flawless :) can't wait until my tendonitis subsides and I can drum again; put some of this knowledge to use. In the meantime I've been thinking about buying an audio sampler off of my DJing friend, just so I can at least play around with rythms. but BB, got a question for you. Aside from healing, any advice you can offer about how best to spend my time in regards to learning more about drumming?
