at my school there is a polluted pond :( my school keeps opening wonderful places like a japanese garden and now its off limits they keep opening ponds and all of that kind of stuff and they don't bother to maintain it :( I think you're doing a wonderful thing for your community :)

Oh yeah, and next time you do this (there oughtta be many next times!), you should PROBABLY keep everything outside--taking it into your homes could bring pretty bad contaminants that get airborne and can get into fabrics-carpet, curtains, etc... and someone could get ill. Some things, especially things that cling to metals as they break down, can be highly toxic, & molds/bacterium/fungi can bring respiratory disease; the infections are the real worry though-also why you wear GLOVES to clean up!

It's the nature of people and it provides an opportunity for unemployed scavengers who do not need to worry about getting read a trespassing warning because they are scavenging at a public place (such as a lake) as opposed to the trash of a tavern, which is private property. I used to walk up and down my street and collect bottles and cans all over the street, but obviously getting a job pays a hell of a lot more than scavenging. Best of luck out there.

People driving around can see the trash laying around, and would develop a bad reputation for the community. It doesn't matter that it can give other job opportunities and all. Too many people litter for ALL the trash to be picked up. But of course people will still do it, because they think they can just drop trash anywhere without hurting anything, but it does.

Especially if they do it in a lake or the ocean. I hope cops are watching those people as they do it as much as possible so they can bust them.
