Actually this version is from his album "Striking it Rich". Other great cuts on the album are "Canned Music", "I'm an Old Cowhand", etc. This was always my favorite album, I think it was just before "Last Train to Hicksville".
Much closer to the early versions with the slower tempo and melodic lines razor sharp on one beat and smoky indistinct on the next. My fave cover was from the Austen City Limits show, unfortunatly pulled from YT.
I saw Dan and this exact group of musicians in October 2009 in California. They played a lot of songs from his new album but played this song too - about a 6-7 minute version. Very nice. Dan's sittin on a stool these days... he's in his 60s man - holy cats .... ha!
I love this album!
