Hey PGS and readers, is this the same modle that Chris Cornell is currently playing? He also played a 335 at Lollapalooza, but this guitar looks a lot like the other he's been playing recently. Anyone?
Andy, do you use a nail hardener polish on your fingernails? I don't understand how you have anything left of them unless you do so! Nice playin' my man! Love your demos.
Sweet playin. I've never understood why people by gretsches though... What do they have to offer that's different than Gibson and Fender? Or Schecter?
@MitchRulzWorld I think a more appropriate question is... why do people buy Fender or Gibson when they could buy a Gretsch. They are superior to Schecter in every aspect, and beat if not match Gibson or Fender in every aspect, they are versatile, so in almost any genre of music you can find someone playing a Gretsch, plus they look amazing. Look at a White Falcon or a Chet Atkins Double cut model and prepare to be blown away.
@MitchRulzWorld You could say the same thing for any of them 'why buy fender when you could buy gibson gretsch or schecter?' It depends on what people prefer, tbh i wouldnt buy a gibson nowdays, apparently their quality control has gone downhill
@karl198 No, I get that. I have never been a Gibson fan. But I just don't see what the attraction is to Gretsch. What classic sound do they have? They look odd IMO but to each his own. But they sound awful on distortion. They sound cool for clean.
@karl198 Gibson's quality has really gone downhill. They are starting to put really cheap tuning keys on their guitars. It's a disgrace, since if I'm laying $2000-5000 on a guitar, I expect to use good quality parts, not the same parts they use for the $400 epiphone models. On the Gretsch discussion, I am in love with mine because it has a great sound with tube amps. Plus, I am not looking for really distorted tones, just a little grit. If someone wanted some distortion, I would say gibson.
@MitchRulzWorld Sounds like you need to play or hear a gretsch for yourself. They offer a different tone from things like unique pickups, hollow bodies..just search for them.
Go to a music shop and find it ouy for yourself. I tried a single coil hollowbody Gretsch combines with a Mesa amp and a Seymor Duncan delay and that was clean sound heaven. Amazing rockabilly tones.
Andy, can u solve me a problem, man, i need a flanger with same tonal characteristics of the mxr 117 (same used by EVH) that can be operated via expression pedal too. thanks.
Awesome guitar, please show more Gretsches. Most demos of Gretsches on Youtube, the guys don't really play much outside of Country or Bluegrass. I wanna see Andy tear up some on a Gretsch, just to hear what it's like.
I think this is the first time I've listened to a Gretch and really understood as to why they're so sought after (with the price tag to mate I'm assuming). That sounded truly fantastic.
Of all the guitar playing I've seen you do Andy, this is by far the most outstanding. The vintage tones you are getting out of that thing are just epic.
It's amazing how great Andy is at being able to play any particular style to showcase any guitars strengths. Here he can play 50s style rockabilly stuff, but one an another guitar he can shred metal or heavy rock. Super talented.
@100wattLaneyPower I agree on the super talented thing, but there's a reason Scotty reviews the Super-Heavy guitars like the schecters. No offense Andy
I like how andy always seems to find a way to slip in a really obscure led zeppelin song in alot of his demos hahaha. major props for candy store rock.
WOW, THIS IS EXACTLY LIKE MY GRANDPA'S GUITAR!!! I never knew which model Gretsch it was since it had BLOCK inlays. I don't think my Grandpa's had a script logo though. Everything else seems exactly the same.
