Legend has it that back in 1985, a Geffen Records scout from America went over to Manchester, "hearing about new stadium rock band that were doing the rounds in the city.
@ppppccs The truest line in the whole song is - we were younger then and the days were long and slow.
I am 45 now and the years seem to whizz by, i think it is inevitable that people sometimes look back to their youth and yearn to go back. However I am now more content with myself now than I was then so life isn't too bad. All the best.
Hi Mark Burgess, i've been a fan since "your" early days and still do love YOU. Seen ya in the ancienne belgique brussels 1984(?) i was / am mesmerized. great greater greatest - hope you play in bangkok one day?
Raindropps keep falling off my head.Never thought that memories can be so hard. This band makes me feel 20 again. In a lonely world how would it be. Now years later with a family i see back over my shoulder and have no regret of everything I have done Yhanks for the beautiful songs you made.................
ChameleonsVox is Mark Burgess, bassist, lead vocalist and principle songwriter with 80’s Manchester band ‘The Chameleons’ (UK), backed by a loose collection of musicians currently spanning two continents. ChameleonsVox is a vehicle for the perpetual performance of ‘Chameleons’ material by people who have a deep passion for the music and a desire to keep the music alive in the wake of the original band’s demise in 2003. ChameleonsVox continues in 2011 and 2012. WEBSITE ChameleonsVox.co.uk
I loved this band so much. . . Haven't heard them in years!! I still have the Strange Times record that's been untouched in storage for close to eighteen years. I miss the music from this era. It was so much more intricate and interesting than the processed music of today.
@laurinpenn They have reformed and are now called ChameleonsVox and are gigging again. Check their website out .chameleonsvox.co.uk. Mark Burgess is also on Facebook. I went to see them in December, AMAZING!!!!!
I'm 46 and back in the 80s i considered my knowledge of music to be right up there, yet somehow this band slipped by me, i feel like i've just found an out of date jackpot winning lottery ticket, in any decade you care to mention this song should have been number one
i remember buying this album it had just come out, rushing home on the bus from town ,(i was 15) getting my record player on , and not coming out me bed room all week end !!! must of played it 8 10 12 times back to back !!! awesome group !!!!
I kind of hated this song at first. Being the hard edged Postpunk fan I was, I found this too mellow. But now it remembers me how much I love my first true girlfriend. A girl I've felt feelings for even before I took them seriously.
Makes me want to cry of happiness, and thats never happened to me before.
...will the ghosts just stop following me?? Truer words have yet to spoken by the troubled. I kind of like the other version a bit better, which got a lot of play on WFNX, but both have their strong points other than the amazing lyric.
This song is one of the most memorable for me just after I graduated from High School in 88. It still reminds me of the way I felt in those days. I was 18 and Free, I felt I had no cares in the world and I could do what ever I wanted when I listened to this song. I miss those days so much and wish the World was that way again
How will it be....? Not anything close to what is was in the 80's. That's for sure. You don't know what you got until it's no longer there. That was when music was music..

@f2previewers I was 17 when I 1st heard this song n have been hooked on Chameleons ever since!!! A to band,..dont ever stop listening n learning!! (Im 40 now)!!!

This band, The Chameleons UK, along with other bands (The Smiths, The Cure, Gene, Ride, Catherine Wheel, Steve Taylor, Keith Green) were huge influences in inspiring me to write songs on keyboard and record them, for both Out of the Wilderness and Dumpster Diver ... the Musical.
grabe mandaluyong boy!!!how young are you??this became popular during my HS years..im quite old but my choice of music is cool..cant compare this with the kind of music now..thanx for uploading..
One of my favorite songs and albums of all time ever. I was lucky to grow in the San Francisco Bay Area being exposed to awesome music throughout the 80's by radio stations KQAK and KITS. Today's radio music SUCKS and has sucked for a very long time which is why I still continue to mostly listen to underground techno and house. Heh...
Not too many songs can hit me as deeply and as powerfully as this one. Tears holds very personal memories of people and times long gone past. I have listened to The Chameleons and this song for well over 20 years and even to this day, their lustre is as gleaming as the first time I ever heard them.
Saw this fine band on Landsdown Street in about 87/88 in Boston. About the same time World Party played there. Ice Tea played there about that time too.
you had to be in the right place at the right time to be lucky enough to embrace the magical genius of mark burgess i was lucky enough to see the chamelleons uk live at the astoria twice in the 80s fuckin awesum ...................
What the hell peeps are commenting that the NEW WAVE genre wasn't the best era at that time(the 80's) I grew up with this and it's fucking COOL, man i tell you
I'm impressed that they played this in the Philippines! I beg to differ with some of the comments that American radio stations did not play cool music back then, but this song did have some airplay here in San Diego. 91X rules!!!

I don't understand the modern jargon expressed in many of these comments. I've not heard this song since I donated my copy of this (and Swamp Thing) to Dane Bank college's juke box all those years ago.
This is not a jargon you are hearing, these people are talking in Tagalog, which is the dominating language here in Metropolitan Manila, Philippines. Because i tell you, this song was popular here in Metro Manila, Philippines....

simply nostalgic!!!. . . . the best pa rin talaga ang new wave era!!!! . . . .. WXB 102 "the station that dared to be different" . . . .long live the spirit of the 80's!!!!

My favorite Chameleon song of all time.
A total classic. I have seen them only
once when they were in Seattle about
15 or so years ago. Funny how time flies
by so fast.

malulupet talaga ang mga banda noong 80s, masasabi mo talagang astig sila...............kumpara mo sa mga banda ngayon!
