This is one of my favorite Wilde plays, and seeing Jeremy Brett lend his genius was all the more reason to fall in love with it. Thank you so much for posting it.
I so LOVE Jeremy Bretts expressions and the way he behaves, the speaks, he moves... :D Sometimes it´s hot, sometimes it´s just genious and funny and... gorgeous! :D
The scenes with Miss Mabel - every one! - are so funny and sweetXDDD
It is... erm... interesting... that a clever woman's only weak point would be his love for a man, that she would be weak precisely in that when she was uncompromising in everything else. Oh, well, the play is quite wonderful in everyother respect, maybe even in that if you press me!!! Thanks so much for posting
It was all carried off with such aplomb was it not? None of that hideous self-conciousnesss of which we are subjected to in contemporary 'adaptations'. Rupert Everett snifffing in between his lines etc..
I wonder why a great actress like Margaret Leighton didn't won an Oscar for her stunning performances. But overrated actresses like Ingrid Bergman had won twice X3
I didn't know that this existed. This is fabulous! Keith Michell (Henry VIII), Jeremy Brett (My Fair Lady, Sherlock Holmes), Susan Hampshire (Born Free, The Pallisers) all by way of Oscar Wilde! *SWOON* I will bless you forever for posting this!
Simply Put.. Love Love Love.. I love the Way Jeremy Brett acts it out.. Happy Happy Happy:)

Hey, Sir Robert doesn't retire from public life in the play, he becomes a member of Cabinet.
But other than that it is a great performance. Lord Goring has dandy written all over him!

Thanks for uploading this! I'm taking a class on Wells, Wilde, and Shaw so it's very helpful and enjoyable to see the plays alongside reading them.

I only wish that we could have gotten to see Brett's reaction from 3:13 to 3:33...I'm sure his acting was marvelous.
