These guys just changed my life back when I was in a kid in foster care in Kansas, hating everything I had to deal with, and cherishing the act of putting on my headphones and rocking out to their music. So glad you are still together. I love you so much.
one thing that i realized when I grew older was that the voices of the lead singers in the top 4 grunge bands (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, SOUNDGARDEN, and Alice in Chains) have some of the best voices in music...
So, I was re-listening to TEN time back ago (the original/old version), that being early 2009 somewhere around my 21st b-day. Then I hear the news for this reissue coming up. Do you have any clue how exciting this was? Yes, it's a dork fanaticism moment here. Plus finally having the Unplugged to watch here and there. As to today, and it has not been long since (a year?) and that poor thing's already scratched and tired of me. Then came Backspacer & ACL... man, it's been a fun/heavy year or what?
Pearl Jam, brings me the best most amazing memories...I hear the music and it's my autobiography! I started off as Lovebone fan and I could not help but love to love them forever!
Thanks SOOOO Much for posting this!! I have seen this on VH1 In Oz, but LOVE the fact that it's on here!! I have been a HUGELY OBSESSIVE PJ fan since 92 and still love them to this very day. They are the BEST band ever.
And I CANNOT Wait to see them on the 20th November here in Melbourne!!! YAY!!
PEARL JAM IS THE BEST BAND EVER!!! They give me chills everytime I hear them, since 1991 and still chilling me in 2009!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE "CRAZY EDDIE" AND THE BOYS :)!!!!!!!!!!!!
pearl jam and nirvana were fighting the same monster, but pearl jam was a unit....they helped each other through those times 93-96, nirvana also hated the mainstream, but krist and dave were fairly quiet about it, and eddie vedder had no courtney love, she was ambitious, and i can bet my head off that if kurt wasnt with courtney, In utero would have sounded more like bleach, and would have done something similar to pearl jam
I love the album but I think this was a marketing ploy. You can't hardly tell a difference. Its just a remastered version more or less. I have played it on my home theater system and sure it sounds great, nice and crisp. But I don't hear any difference other than that. These are NOT really remixes. Someone just wanted another go-around at making more money on one of the most popular rock albums. Its a repackaging basicly so that they can sell you essentialy the same album AGAIN.
Someone Please help me here. . . I baught the new Ten redux and I can't tell the difference between the original and the "remixes". Some may or may not be very recieving of the remixing of classic Pearl Jam tracks, so I hear. . . WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT ! I can't tell the dif ?!
Your pretty belligerent, ya know that? I have plenty of music knowledge to hear a difference. Obviously it sounds a lot cleaner, but its advertised as 'remixs'. I'm sure you know what that means, so I won't attempt to demean you like you did me. I'm a fan, espesialy for the 'Ten' album. BTW, they include both the redux AND original. I have listened to key tracks over and over to try to pick up on the dif and I can't find it. Mabey I got a "mispress" if its suposedly so obvious of a difference
i'm an artist and i have some of the better vids on this site ... everything you see and hear on my vids i do all by myself ... and it's a lot of hard work

i'm so good at art ... and i just don't want to waste all this talent ... and i have so much to give
so please help me and subscribe and tell people about me
this guys changed my way of seeing things forever... i´ve grown with them and now my kids like them too. They´re inmortal... have a page on the history of rock... thank you guys
pearl jam outshined those bands plus they have a unique quality of mixing various chapters of rock...you can tell there's lots of things goin' on with their music..there's crazy horse, dylan, the who,the beatles, ramones, led zep,mc5,stones,cheap trick from ten to avocado..those other bands had the grunge brand on their forehead & didnt take any risks..kurt bitching about beign famous?.but why the hell did he kept doing the same kind of sound with in utero..plus more promotion & videos? bullshit
Yeah. But hey I love Nirvana too, another one of my favorites. How true about their music. Incredibly complex styles and very diverse influences inhabit PJ's music. Well put godardtruffaut.
pj my fav band..nirvana was great but liked sonic youth better but can you explain to me why kurt was so down about nirvana being a commercial band..but they kept doing videos, unplugged & more publicity when in utero was released..i dont understand him really..pj didnt liked too much exposure..so they walked away from mtv and stuff...why did kurt went on that way? cheers
It wasn't all exactly the fame, it was that it was the wrong kind of fame. It was the fact that hipsters and people who weren't true to music and were never a real part of the scene became a part of the audience and Kurt felt it wasn't genuine and they weren't really the true fans.
i dont know man because i listened kurt on radio once blaming the media & gefen over nirvana saturation to pop audiences.they had more creative control than pj so why keep doing more vids & tv promotion,he knew this was gonna fuck up things more..clearly was not always about nirvana fans.Pj did a braver turn, after ten they gave the middle finger to large part of the media..not only musically but on attitude it was more truthful on punk & classic rock revival beliefs that kurt often raved about
True, either way, Kurt Cobain was an enigma. He often contradicted the things he said, and very often wanted things one way and then criticized those things when they went his way. In a way, I don't think he was ever quite sure what he REALLY wanted. More than likely it was a combination of things, but the fans sure had a lot to do with his attitude.
ummm...still im not that sure or too keen on about kurt...did nirvana already had finished their contract with geffen by the time the unplugged was released?
umm...nirvana should have wait until the contract was done..and go to another label..an independent one...& change their ussual sound without compromising their roots...like radiohead..it could have worked out for kurt...
Well, maybe. But the damage was already done. Nirvana were already one of the biggest bands in history by that point, and no matter where they went after that, people were still going to flock to hear the next Nirvana hit. They were never going to be able to revert back to their indie stage, no matter where they went, and Kurt knew it.
i believe vs was more huge than in utero by that time, also by 1995 pj was considered more popular than nirvana..nirvana was like influential & groundbreaking....but not that huge..it was like the beatles were more influential by 1970 but zeppelin already had larger audiences by taht time..i think the media and kurt actually elevated nirvana..i think kurt should have considered some points & saved his life
Yeah, every year Pearl Jam continued to outsell Nirvana. I know what you mean with The Beatles/Led Zeppelin thing. It makes sense, only the margin of influence was far greater with The Beatles/Led Zeppelin than it was with Nirvana/Pearl Jam.
Lol. I see where you're coming from, seeing as though I love Cream and The VU myself, but I gotta stick with my Beatles man. No album in history has ever topped the White Album as far as I'm concerned.
umm..i been a beatles fan always..i listened the white album quite a lot..& i gotta say..vu's white light white heat sounds amazing...white album feels dated...amazing how vu sounded on that record..so modern (like sonic youth or nirvana)..also wheels of fire..same year also..sounds more clean & fresh (as you said sounds like radiohead)...1968 same year..w a got a lot of silly indulgence going on really:revolution 9, glass onion, bungalow bill, birthday,etc...but while my guitar.. stands out
I know what you're saying, but Glass Onion and The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill actually do have meanings, despite the silliness. But yeah those are some classic albums, I like VU's first album a whole lot.
i like white light white heat a whole lot better because they took off nico & any sign of beatnik influence..& according to thurston moore they created a monster..like an explotion of punk, garage & art-rock married with audacious lyrics liek never before..he said that sonic youth kind of based their whole career on that sole vu album..fuck,thats pretty huge....but my favourite vu tune will always be heroin....& yes..pearl jam is the biggest rock band on planet earth right now!
Lol, I was lookin up tickets to see if there were any good shows near Atlanta and all of a sudden I stumble across "Eddie Vedder tickets $75 each" and I freaked out and bought em right away.
It's an Eddie Vedder solo tour, not Pearl Jam. It's on June 23 and June 24. But hell if Pearl Jam comes to town any time soon I'm jumping on those tickets as soon as possible.

I think you need to leave your personal thoughts to yourself, not only is your comment retarded, childish and incompetent ,but you actually took the time to leave a bad comment on a page where all PJ fans leave positive comments which just proves you are the biggest waste lol, why even take your time to leave such a meaningless/pointless comment, Pearl Jam Rocks and is prob best band out of the 90's as far as Rock and Roll goes, and there from Seattle you dumbass. Got my ten today and it rocked!
lol no eddie interview eh? only a few more days until the re-issue hits....can't wait to hear it. Hopefully we'll get a tour soon!- and i say that with total excitement, students have sad lives. Cheers PJ fans!
nah dude, you'll be really impressed with this remix. I've already heard the remix of Porch and it's great. A lot of stuff is buried beneath reverb and echo in the orginal mix that's crystal clear on the remix. You'll dig it.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MATT CAMERON!!!!!!! PEARL JAM! apart from STP the only few bands that still got all there members from the 90's!
Why do we lose our passion for change with age? Electrified currents of energy turn into "faded memories" of our youth (whenwe wanted to do, but never did; now we think about the time we almost did). Thanks for the reminder.
you guys defined my life while growing up... and I live far over here on Argentina, hope to see you guys once again some time soon... greatest show ever in Buenos Aires
just upped the excitement a little more for me.. i was in university at the time ten was first released... and have loved it since i first heard it... it really was the cornerstone of the soundtrack of MY life thus far!!!
Can someone tell me who and what Black is about. I adore the song but don't understand it.
