Lost Coast wasn't really a game of sorts, but more of an experiment on the part of Valve. They carried it out to explore the new possibilities provided by updated shaders and the use of HDR to enhance the graphics. After fighting through City 17 sewers to Dr Kleiner's lab, the teleporting error knocked Freeman unconcsious, sending him through streams of time and space into this place, and because of the weird energy, Freeman automatically recieved new weapons. After he finished, Kleiner was able to reset the chrono-modules, and pulled Freeman back through a lot and a lot of time and space and then he landed outside where Barney gives him a crowbar.
