My dad bought me this record when I was 10 yrs old. This song still sounds fresh & brand new to me. (I noticed Rick's buccal pit amalgam on his lower molar at some point in the video! LOL.)
Next Position Please was the only Todd Rundgren Produced Album for Cheap Trick. I've always liked them both. I go back to Old School Rundgren from The Nazz and Cheap Trick from The Old School 1970's!! Cool 1983 Song!! Cool Cheap Trick Video!! HOOAH!!
@kenc1161 The raucous rendition on Music For Hangovers is my fave, but I like the clean production here. It's more about good songwriting than anything else.
@GrizrazRex Music For Hangovers Excellent Choice, and production wise this was there slickest, Alway thought they were a Great Band and saw them in 79 with 30,000 screaming fans and 93 with less then 300 Always found their careers Ironic....
@GrizrazRex Underated, in 1983 Next Position Please was a comercial flop and no singles released including this one even charted, I blame it on Rundgren taking away that Cheap Trick edge and producing this fluffy bubblegum garbage....
XD My dad and his friend went to a Cheap Trick concert. Funny thing is, my dad's friend was hammered drunk, and when Rick Neilsen went there direction, my dad's friend puked all over him! Rick just looks at them, horrified, and goes back from where he came from. LOL
@coolatheart Yup, it took Tom 5 years too many to again see the error of his ways and return back to CT when "Next Position Please" came out in 1983...
Yeah, I remember hearing this song even before I knew Todd Rundgren produced it and thinking "man, this sounds like something Rundgren would do." The guitar sound was different for Cheap Trick, definitely has Rundren's sound and fingerprint on it...
noboby has the carisma of Robin Zander lol. Cheap Trick rocks any song they do cause they are a Beatles prodigy in there own wright. Nudge nugde wink wink say no more. But I'm just a nut don't listen to me.They are from Marengo Illinois near Rockford I'll betcha. I'm a California man is a great tune from guys that grew up in the corn belt. I used to live in Crystal Lake that's how I know. They are one of the greatest rock bands ever!
Great song, great video. "Next Position Please" is a fantastic, although overlooked, album from CT. I am one of the few who likes Todd Rundgren's production here, although it just needs more crunch on the guitars! Live versions of this song are better in that regard.
Damn Rick!!! Ive seen straighter teeth in a sand sharks mouth

Rick Nielsen's performance here reminds me a bit of Marty Feldman, I have to wonder if it was intentional or a coincidence.
