  • I like when he said it's pretty much everyone's favorite game (silent hill 2) out of the series, THAT was fucking hilarious.

  • What exactly is it doing to her? Making her rot?

  • Okay cool.... thennnnn you die? That's it?

  • @Beledal no, you can leave after the ooz/bood/darkness covers your side.

  • PS: If I'm not mistaken, I love your allusion to Final Fantasy IV's famous quote on your username! =D

  • Hey! Second video I watched from you so far, and I like the sincerity in your vlog. You're also a fan of the Silent Hill series, which I believe is one of the most underrated, greatest Horror video-game series that ever existed.

    I'm subscribing, for sure!

  • I always found hillarious how many times Silent Hill 3 just kills you off in weird ways, like this scene, or the sewer monster, or the ceiling in the amusement park xD

Also, if I'm not mistaken, if you play the game after a few times on hard mode, this same thing happens with other rooms, like the subway, in rooms where it did not happen the first time you've played.

  • Akira Yamaoka is still a legend

  • don't go in the storeroom.

  • I played through Silent Hill 2 and 3... on pc... downloaded from the Internet... so I'm going to redeem myself by buying the Silent Hill HD Collection for PS3. And and later this week I'll buy Silent Hill 1 on Playsation Store. But yeah, this is an awesome videogame series.

  • Hmmm, interesting. I found Silent Hill 3 a lot easier, used a walk through a lot less.

  • can't wait for the HD collections :)

  • SH3 had some of the best creepy moments. I also love the part with the telephone, totally unattached, in the locker that starts ringing

  • JUST SHOW THE DAMN GAMEPLAY ALREADY!!!!

  • I really wish i had a PS2 when i was younger, for i never played this game,and i missed out:(

  • @helljumpr5150

    There's a PC version.

  • Yeah, the mirror scene was so fucking effective and one of the best moments ever... I was freaking the fuck out so bad when this first happened to me.

  • I didn't understand Silent Hill at all. I played the 2nd game it was ok but I still had no clue what I was doing there and what I had to accomplish :/

  • @MonkeyBoy3000ii Uh... the intro says it all, hes there because he got a letter from his wife.... his dead wife... to meet in the town of Slient Hill

  • @OldEvilEye1280 Yeah I know that but the whole concept of the world being clouded with fog made no sense. Throughout the series I had no idea why the fog was there, there was no explanation for this whatsoever. And it left me extremely confused.

  • @MonkeyBoy3000ii Mining town shut down. Coal fire. Did you not read the memos in the game?

  • @Darkhunterjag No I couldn't be bothered immersing myself in the world of Silent Hill, I just wanted to play the game.

  • @MonkeyBoy3000ii That's a shame. It makes the game an even creepier experience when you know the back story behind the events leading up to the story line.

  • I love the series well ... Any thing after Homecoming was just awful gameplay wise was meh (course in retrospect the original games did play like a smoother RE game) and story just unlike-able.

  • I agree with him.

Silent Hill is one of my favourite games. Certainly the best of the Silent Hill franchise.

  • oil? didnt you mean blood

  • after playing the game i couldn't sleep for a month then i decided to not play it then i gave it to my friend then after a few weeks i wanted it back then i got it back then i couldn't sleep for a month and then....(the cycle goes on and on)

  • i think sh4 needs to be discussed. its seriously underrated

  • @kmfdm5 it has a good story but the contolls are so very frustrating

  • @BlackMetalWorld i didnt have very much trouble with it lol. btw darkthrone kicks ass

  • @BlackMetalWorld for combat? thats the idea your supposed to run

  • @sephiroth8261 not really, silent hill 1-3 were fine but 4 is glitchy and the papercuter is the most lethal weapon, nuff said

  • Terrible controls. Ruined the game

  • this game really fucks with your mind it is really fucken creepy i have to play this with the lights on

  • That scene is still incredibly hard to watch...

  • oddly, i attacked any and every enemy that was around so they wouldnt be able to sneak up on me. I remember taking on the walking p-nis monsters in the begining of the mall with the pipe-or crowbar or whatever the weapon was (it wasnt the knife i know that much) and winning against them both. I think i'm just stubborn. which is why i prefer 4. Your more combat effective and you dont move like you've got a steel pipe shoved up your backside dragging along the ground behind you.

  • I didn't know if you stayed in that room you could die!!

    D:

  • @Esty2326 I didn't either. I only discovered it on a later playthrough... or was that a different room? O_O

  • @somedamnfangirl I think it's the same room. I was just creeped out by the fact that you could die if you didn't leave. But how could you die? D= You just had squiggles on you

  • @Esty2326 There was a storyline reason for why it killed her if she stayed there. :)

  • @somedamnfangirl Which was?

  • @Esty2326 She was being "corrupted" by Silent Hill

  • think of the twisted being who wrote that scene O.o

  • I watch that old awesome movie back to the future

  • THAT. SCENE. FUCKED. ME. UP.

  • silent hill 1 and 2 was scarier than 3 and 4

  • silent hill 2 was my favorite 3 is a close 2nd

  • Anyone else think Spoony should do one of these games as a lets play for halloween?

  • @Dimbo nah, Spoonys only entertaining when hes angry ;)

  • @Dimbo or like a marathon like year on year that would be awsome...still

  • All the videogames blows, and Silent Hill is not the exception.

  • Silent hill 2 is easier in terms of fighting and stuff but much harder than 3 in terms of puzzles.

  • all hail the drunken trucker!!!!!! (Travis Grady)

    SH2 is good as well

  • wow i actually found a separate video and i synched it with spoony's narration. pretty fucking scary, along with his narration and the music.

  • I never could play silent hill

    waaaaay to scary for me

i'll stick to dead space thank you ^^'

  • The first Silent Hill was the best for me, but the second was great too... hey Spoony, have you seen a little girl? XD

  • this is so weird...... that's so creepy haha damn... why don't you just run away?

  • WAS a pretty damn good series...

  • I remember that part, damn i hate silent hill, but i hate it with love :P

  • she's a little girl she's weak enough as a female anyway.

  • that was the scariest moment(and quite possibly the BEST EVER)I ever experienced in ANY survival horror game I knew about it before playing it I think from seeing a clip on here I even used a walkthrough(cuz its very easy to get lost in Silent Hill games and those damn puzzles can be a bitch)and I STILL wound up there, even seeing a clip quite sometime before I played it still scared the fuck outta me and last I do agree that Silent Hill 2 was much easier than Silent Hill 3, SH1, 2 & 3=BEST!

  • @SpoonyOne what about Silent Hill 4? I say it was the best of all of them. What do you think?

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder if Spoony played 3 on hard difficulty or something. I didn't find the monsters that difficult. . . (I played on Normal and after that played on Hard) but I agree with him about 2 being easier but scary none-the-less.

  • I preferred the 1st game.

  • The thing people mostly take for granted about the Silent Hill series is the heavy symbolic value of it all, especailly in Silent Hill 2. The entire franchise is based around symbolism (a factor the god-awful movie failed to capture) and I suggest perhaps playing through Silent Hill 2 again, and really looking at things. It sure gave me a lot more chills knowing the symbolism then it did when I just thought it was a wonderfully scary game. :)

  • I know this is irrelevant to the video. But what did you use to hang your posters? :o

  • Spoony! I just saw this yesterday! And today I saw the Silent Hill 8 Trailer! What the F is going on?!

  • So, what happens when you go in that mirror room? Do you just die and start over?

  • @Dracowrath1 Nope. The door unlocks at the last moment, you have to get out before your health starts getting drained.

  • i played through the whole game and i never found that room, which area is it in?

  • I love silent hill to!

    you rock spoony

  • Do a Horror Game Classic episode on Resident Evil! :D

  • silent hill the first one on ps1 scares the shit outta me i never beat it.. i only got about 2 hours in and i pooped on myself and i never play it at night.

  • Damn that ending was creepy

  • So you like number 2?

    hmm

  • silent hill 2 was the best, but 1 and 3 were nearly as good. after that it really started losing steam. still good games, but bad for silent hill standards.

  • For all of the series i most like the first one, Silent Hill which I played on a good-old Playstation... no other game creeped me out better than this xD. Cheers!

  • a new silent hill game was announced for PS3 and 360 rumors state it could be a remake of silent hill 2!

  • Imagine playing that part in the middle of the night with stereo headphones on blaring that music/ambiance in your ears.

    Bricks.

    I shat them.

  • excellent review, silent hill 1 creeped me out the most. I was 10 playing silent hill 1 and the scene which freaked me out the most toward the end of the game you go back to the hospital to save the nurse lisa garland from the otherworld. And she comes to the conclusion she is already dead and like the monster nurses. She then starts bleeding all over and starts weeping begging you to hold her and save her and harry mason just runs out of the room. I didnt sleep for a while after that scene.

  • Did i spot D&D books in the background?

  • @marvelona He plays, or has played, D&D.

  • you dont fuck with silent hill silent hill fucks you.... mentally

  • @ninjasolidsnake And, if you're dealing with Pyramid Head, physically, too!

  • You think the mirror scene is scary? Go play Silent Hill 3, and don't tell me this line doesn't haunt your nightmares:

"They look like monsters to you?"

  • @LostHeroXIII The delivery of those lines, along with the character motions, was so perfectly executed that the scene really creeped me out O_o

  • @LostHeroXIII YES.

  • @LostHeroXIII, That line isn't remotly scary. It may sound scary coming from the charactors mouth, but to everyone else, its just letters.

  • @LostHeroXIII Pity that the rest of SH3 was not scary in the least. Those were good moments though.

  • @LostHeroXIII Yeah, i never got that part? what does it mean?

  • @LostHeroXIII That was one of the best lines I've heard in any video game. Just the thought that the enemies could possibly be HUMAN really did haunt me

  • Anytime the sirens came on in the original game was freaky

  • Holy hell Spoony, that's my favorite part of the game too. It's just so freaky, you have no idea what the hell is doing. And you just start freaking out. I wish more videogames would preform psychological scares like that one.

  • SPOILERS!!!

One really scary moment from the first game is when you first go into the hospital and you get in the elevator. You take it up to the 2nd floor and you can't go anywhere. Then you take it to the 3rd floor (the top floor) and you still can't go anywhere. Then you get back in the elevator and all of a sudden there's a button for the fourth floor...

  • El Demente'! \8-o

It's like the mirror is either showing what's about to happen or the black hell o0ze crawls from the mirror into your side of reality.

  • i liled the giant face with the bright blue quivering eyes from part 3 in the hospital

  • Awesome scene. But Silent Hill is Konami's, not Capcom... right?

  • @elementocultural Yes, Capcom have Resident Evil.

  • is it just me or is it always the the second installment to most capcom games out there that are the best one.

like resident evil 2, silent hill 2, and devil may cry 2.... oh wait.......

  • i think i fell in love with a game and shit my pants at the same time

  • so fucking creepy

  • The Silent Hill 3 Mirror scene, me and my cousin played it alone in the dark, it was for the first time.... we couldn't sleep that night. XDD It seriously was one of the scariest game scenes ever, it left a huge impact. Awesome review.

  • the mirror scene is legendary so is Silent Hill, still to this day it haunts me xD

  • SPOONY, WOW.

Like really man. I was a huge fan of yours from the FF8 Parody thing you did aswell as a few other videos you've done. But now that you've done Silent Hill. WOW.

Your now up there with Dena as some of my favourites from That Guy with The Glasses, grats. ^^

  • this is my all time favorite silent hill game :D

  • The only time i ever died in this game....was by a fricking MIRROR!!!!

  • Yeah that part from sh3 was probably that scariest moment I've ever experienced in gaming ever.

Although it does lose that feeling by just watching it. If you're playing the game, and wandering around however it's a complete mind screw.

You're walking around exploring each room, and then out of nowhere the door to this room just seems to lock. Also the fact that you're already on edge from all the crap you went through before. Now this comes along and just ruins your day. It's awesome!

  • Fatal Frame 3 had a similar take on this type of scare. There is a small storage room you can enter, and the door shuts and locks behind you, while a Grudge-like rattle starts to get louder and louder, and suddenly hundreds of scary-looking faces appear on the walls. Looking at the walls through your camera shows nothing.

They should make more scares like this one. Scares where you are helpless to escape it.

  • cool video!!

  • I think that the problem with SH1 & 2 is that there is too much combat, and the fact that you can fight your way trough everything simply kills the scare. That which you can kill is not scary. But thanks for the SH3 advice, i'll have to check it out (and the new Wii title as well).

  • The mirror room was the creepist part for me. My sister played the game and she got into this room and I remember I actually had to leave the room.

  • @Magicgirlamy I actaully had the same expierience as you, just that my sister knew about it already and teased me xD

  • freaking mirror is actually one of the scariest parts in the game. I wonder what the next one was...

  • I know, do you remember the mannequin which was screaming as it got its head cut off? That was so creepy

  • I jumped like six feet in the air. I felt so bad because after those two parts I refused to go up stairs and watch my sister play. She was up there ALONE! XD

  • @Magicgirlamy Lol xD Do you remember when Pyramid Head was chasing James and Maria through the hallway? That was so intense xD

  • seriously, and since Maria was played by a slightly retarded robot she was pretty much left behind. I remember one part there is a gate or something blocking your entrence to a path and you look through it you see pyramid head looking straight at you. Turn around and look back hes gone.

  • wasnt he glowing red? I almost had a heart attack the first time I saw this guy staring at me, I turned around and didnt go back in that hallway for the next hour xD

  • I think he was glowing red. It was freaky. The first silent hill had its moment of scary too. At the beginning of the game in the allie when the alarms went off. Suddently it got darker and he lights a match and all the sudden you see blood and the burning babies just go after you. It was sooo scary.

  • yea or your are descending from the clock tower and to find yourself in the otherworld school which is even more sinister and evil than the "real" one xD

  • rofl. I know. The school is the most freakiest place of them all. I hate the hospitals though, in all the games. And Lisa's death was the most famous death of all of them on the whole silent hill series. Although Cinthea was cutting it close.

  • true, but lets not forget silent hill 3 had also alot of scary moments like the horse carusel where u fight aleesa that was really freaky

  • That was scary. My sister thought it was a shadow or something, she had to look it up to see it was Aleesa. I love the part where you puke up "God".

  • preetty ironic that the puke "God" imagin if you could say that xD

  • I know. lol But that scene was awesome.

  • i just played silent hill shatterd memories on the wii and its ausome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gaaah I love the scene you decribed so much lol So creepy like Eileen's head in SH4

  • lol if some of u play silent hill:origins u would realize at the beggining there will be a sign that says "welcome to silent hill" but at the back of it it shows nuthin.. (origins is the only SH series i ever played xp) i played homecoming for a while though

  • i loved sh2

  • "Every town has its secrets, Some are just darker than others" Describes Silent Hill. Silent Hill is Hell on Earth where you are punished for your sins by pyramid head "Satan" and "Once you enter silent hill You can never leave".

  • Spoony, thank you so much for making this vid. I just bought Silent Hill 2, and I am about 10 minutes into the game, and I already love it. You definitely know your video games. Again, thank you for influencing me to purchase this awesome game.

  • I've never played, but it sounds interesting. What console do I need for it? And when you say scary, are you talking suspense scary or jump-scare scary?

  • 2&3 are on the ps2. And both types of scary.

  • Both games are for PS2 (Silent Hill 2 and 3). When he means scary (For SH3), he doesn't mean the scary that every blue moon something makes you jump. The scary he means is through the whole game. You can call it suspense, but for me, I would say the game is a nightmare. It has so many disturbing images and it gives you a huge sense of claustrophobia in some parts. SH2 is more of a subtle mental fear. You see it first, and it begins to grow into what it will soon be. SH2 has amazing symbolism

  • I am unable to find SH1/2/3, so any opinions on SH4:the room?

  • in SH3 when my sis got the Katana blade she pretty much sliced through everything execpt those pinwheel spider things

  • god i had nightmares about that one when i played that game and did not stop playing. im one of those gamers where i only play the campiagn straight without stoping and when i played this one its stilll burned into my memories... i wonder would it be more scary if the merrior you go tout and started to drag you into that world would that be more scary? but than you wake up outside that door you just came in... oh well. good game good seres.

  • i completely agree! adn great video, sorry I accidently just rated your vid 1 star when I mean tto put 5 stars ^^'

  • i'm only 13 and i saw that room in sh3 w/ the mirrors when i was 10 in the dark.....i've never look at a mirror the same again

  • Yeah the scene would probably be a hell of a lot scarier if it was being played/watched live, as you'd already be immersed, and you'd be trying for a way out. Nonetheless, thanks for sharing it.

  • That game rocked out with its c#@k out!

  • SILENT HILL OWNS!

    *spoiler for sh3*

    RIP HARRY MASON :'(

The mirror room is one of the scariest locations in the entire silent hill series

you actually had it backwards...your reflection gets all icky and the room you're in starts to do the same

  • i completely freaked out in that mirror room. it killed me lol

  • MIRROR ROOM LOLOLOLOLOL

  • Love Silent Hill 2. The best of the series. The first one is a classic aswell. Didn't like 3 so much cause it explained too much and ruined some of the mystery in my opinion. It also reused some of the places from 2.

  • I love Silent Hill 2! If you play SH2 on hard mode you pretty much have to run away too. 4 is scary to me because of the ghost victims and Walter Sullivan's creepy ass!

  • Was Silent Hill 4 really called "Silent Hill Homecoming"?

  • It's Silent Hill 4: The Room and Silent Hill 5: Homecoming.

  • This man is the hero of the internet.

  • Oh and homecoming on hard mode is one hard motherfucker!

  • Silent Hill 3 wasn't as good as 2 for me but the gameplay was so much better and it was a lot harder, I barely had any health items left. Homecoming is pretty hard as well.

  • This is one of the best reviews of Silent Hill that I've ever seen! THANK YOU!!!!

  • Oh yeah the mirror scene... That was some scary shit. :P

My favourite silent hill game is the 3rd one because you can't really fight the enemies, it makes it more realistic.

But still... I haven't played Silent hill 2 tough so... I'll give it a try before i start making sudden decisions.

  • Lol, I get to watch these twice, once on his website and once in my youtube subscription updates xD.

  • Good to see you making youtube videos again, Spoony.

    Happy Halloween

  • This series picked at my main weakness: air raid sirens. I hate them. So much.

  • I got SH2 for PC years ago, but haven't had time to play it! I'll have to give it a shot!

  • resident evil is entertaining to kill those bitches out... not so perturbing as silent hill , they are fucking creepy! they are not even human!

    not even close to "pwnz"

  • what is it with everyone and horror games, i just dont see the point...then again i pised my pants at scary movie 4

  • Wow...everyone likes SH2? I keep hearing that SH3 is a lot scarier.

  • I enjoyed "The Room"...but I guess I'm the only one in this dimension.

  • me too, Ive only played 4th and 1st of the series, but next is 2nd..

  • God I had trouble sleeping after that.

  • I remember that part in SH3 with the mirror.

Dude. It was genius. And horrifying.

  • I will always remember the first time I saw Silent Hill 1, a friend was showing me the game late at night with the lights off, and he seemed a little too aggressive in killing the creatures in the school. I asked him why, and he said

"I don't kill them for experience, I don't kill them for dropped stuff, I kill them because the SHOULD NOT BE!"

    He was right.

  • quoted, that's brilliant.

  • SH 4 is the most scary in the series because of the psychological horror. Just think about you being traped in an appartment where you can scream all you want and no one can hear you whilst pure evil spirits are trying to break in.

  • is 4 the one with the room?

  • yes

  • Yes.

  • Silent Hill 2 is indeed my favorite Silent Hill game. I love it so much.

  • I couldn't agree more with the hospital mirror room.

  • omg the mirror room in SH3 scared the fucking shit into me.

  • What Silent Hill game would be good to start on?

  • the 2nd one. The stories of the first 3 games(and the psp one, and possibly the 5th one although i havent played it but 4 is stupid imo) tie together but the first is hard to find and is very dated. the 2nd is one of the best console horror games ive ever played and i love it. But the 3rd is hard as fuck and the first one is way too dated imo. Start with the 2nd

  • I guess I'll get 2 then ^_^ But why do you not like 4? I saw a vid and it looked damn scary (which isn't the only factor I know)/

  • 5 is it's own story. kinda like SH2. It wasn't that bad of a story either.

  • Start on 1, then play 2 and 3. 4 is almost a stand alone.
