@jacquie876 I actually learned Hindi by myself with Rupert Snell's books, once I had watched over 200 Bollywood movies. I had a lot of people's help along the way, however. Anyway, Urdu and Hindi are basically the same sentence structure wise, verb wise, pronoun wise, etc, so it's just a matter of learning different pronunciations and vocabulary to switch between the two.
You can write Urdu words into the google translator by clicking "allow phonetic typing". It's a bit frustrating (continued)
@jacquie876 because Urdu speakers don't spell words phonetically. I suggest using the Ghalib Ghazal dictionary (google it) to help with the spelling.
When translating, I use ghalib ghazal and google translate in both Urdu and Hindi in the first phase, then I get a native speaker to help me out, although this one I did by myself so God knows if it's fully accurate.... :(

I had been looking for the lyrics last year myself, because I performed this dance. The emotions portrayed are just awesome, and Hema is one of my favorite dancers. But I know it's very difficult to make people understand what it's about. An Indian asked me why I perform this song, with these "bad words". I was surprised, I thought Indians were able to put this song into the historical context..

yes, but unfortunately is has very bad resolution, and the performance was not so good either, because I lost half of my jewellery :-) ... This looks a bit strange, with things dangling around, and it distracted me a lot :-)) I have more experience now with fixing classical jewellery, and I will try to make a better video if I perform it again and post it.
So you learnt Urdu? By yourself or did you take lessons?
Do you know any good resources on the internet, where you can type in an urdu word in roman letters (once you found out how it's spelled :-)
