kinda like havin a 292 in the ol tonner, but NOT my stock 12v cummins would eat any 292 I ever drove . NICE GM truck with a 150 pound crankshaft! and no offense to v8 diesel lovers, because they do work pretty well for having such teeny bottom end parts like my 440 cuda, but like all the big boy trucks (Powered with N14, ISX, C13, C15, series 60) and so forth),, the ISB has 7 main bearings instead of 5, larger rods, I mean way bigger rods, each hogging up the whole space between mains...

No not really (at least w/o 20 grand into em after being stock). They make the most torque though because they are essentially "geared for the road" tractors with the inline 6 configuration. If your gonna sled pull and dont mind going slow and being excessively LOUD and irritating....get a cummins! If you wanna go fast and be practical while still being able to pull anything practical in daily life...get a duramax or powerstroke! Im unbiased...i love em all, but theres definately pros and cons.

dodge doesn't build diesels... the ones in the Jeep grand cherokee are from Mercedes Benz, and the dodge ram diesel is Cummins. Cummins makes some really good engines.

Ya as of 2006 GM builds the duramax in Ohio they are perty good engines i rode in one and it has plenty of power and that allison shifts O so smooth even when the pedal is to the metal. It would make my day if dodge couldnt afford Cummins any more so they signed a contract with GM. the 518 was in the Jeep cherokee this is a 618 same parts just on a larger scale. these trannys will really perform when cranked up with a billet converter. I own my own trans shop.
