Hey man, nice review. Just a quick question: As far as the AF goes in video mode, say you go up close to a object, does it focus right up on it and leave the blurred background? And the same with picture's? (Also known as macro mode). And I do know your a photographer but how well does the GPS work in your car or in general?
Great video. I am looking at getting a aw100 but I had a few questions.
1) Can the GPS be turned off to improve the battery life? 2) I am a little concerned that I will scratch the lens because there is no cover. I currently have an old Olympus tough and just keep it in my pocket, but it has the metal retractable lens cover. Do you see any issues with not having a lens cover/ can the lens be replaced if it was scratched? Thanks for the info.
hey cory nice review just wondering now u have had time to use the aw100 what r your thoughts im looking at buying one for a rugged camera as i already have a d3100 for good pics thanks
@rskikn I like it a lot. It does fill a void between my phone camera and my DSLR. However, if I didn't need the rugged features or wasn't and avid photographer, I'd pass. Point and shoot cameras are being phased out, if you really think you need one, consider buying a cheap one to play it safe.
Stay tuned for a part 2 on this camera..... when I can find some time.
@william73610 As far as I know the camp and white version are excessive to the UK market. If you really want one I'd look online for a retailer that ships to where you are.
So here's a update, the first real shake down with camera the battery didn't last as long as I hoped. I just got a iPhone 4s and I'd like to compare the two. Look forward to a part 2 in the next week.
I don't have this camera yet, ordered it from Walmart account a couple days ago. Look forward to using it while fishing under a multitude of conditions. It should serve me well, thank you for your review.
As I'm getting more use out of this camera I am learning more too. The GPS is a cool feature but isn't very detailed and only really works well outside.
I found I can change both the white balance and ISO pretty quick now that I know where they are but auto works fairly well most of the time.
I'll feature a part 2 of this camera when I get some time to go over more features.
