he's just one of the more prominent session drummers around. he doesn't have the reputation of someone like eddie van halen but he's prominent in his own right. i know he's recorded with john mayer and a bunch of other people. he's worth looking into.

When I attended this show, at the Empire State Building studios, during each commercial break Eddie played all the 1984 hits with Shaffer. I had no idea Eddie was going to be there. He was a total last minute surprise guest. I had recently seen VH at the Meadowlands. This day was like too good to be true. I remember being scared that someone would check my ID because no one under 18 was admitted to Letterman tapings.

I was at this show!  Thankyou whoever loaded this. I was 16 and had gotten tickets for a Letterman taping months in advance. Alley Sheedy was supposed to be the guest but she got bumped because Eddie and Valerie showed up last minute. Sandra Bernhart was the other guest. I was sitting about 30 ft from Eddie.

Man, Roth has never been able to sing worth a shit. He can't write songs. Even Eddie said that with him in the band his motto was "just get me to the solo." The songs were nowhere near as good as the sammy songs. Eddie was awesome in all of them, but Roth just squeals and does the splits. That's evident by his solo career. The only good thing about Van Halen with Roth in the band was the other members of the band, especially Eddie's leads.

Sorry to tell you i was at the Toronto show last night and i have seen VH play at least 15 times with all 3 singers and last night was the best one. Not only did that kid play every song to perfection (i am a bass player and a big VH fan) He sang those back ups better than Mike ever did. Mike was better in the studio than live. Maybe you should actually go to the show before you make a comment on it.
