I grew up watching this show. I'm from Argentina, and always watched this episodes in Latin Spanish. Today I review this entire chapter. I must say that I love El Zorro, a show plenty of action, comedy and sometimes romance. Guy Williams will be ALWAYS the only Zorro, and not the cheapeast copys...
Thank you, for posting this. Greetings from Argentina. Saludos desde Argentina.
I like that quote: We are rivals in love, but allies in duty.
De la Vega always thought about something to delay or misguide the soldiers. It's amazing how he cares about the people. He put himself at stake doing that but he never gave up.
I don't know what you mean. I think Williams was great at what he was doing. He suited perfectly for this role and no one else at that time could play it as brilliantly as he did. There were many actors who used to "play themselves" - look at Louis de Funes, the characters he performed where always similar to each other. Louis always acted in the same way, but the was still a genius.
@asmodeus585 I never meant to criticise him. I just said he looked like having no abilities at playing the guitar and singing. Look at his hands while he plays. He never changed the chords. But the best Zorro / Don Diego ever.
I am with Shakespear H, Disney Zorro respected ladies and valued life. The Zorro in 'The Mask of Zorro' was just a jumped up revengeful bandit. I love this series!
oh, yea. Sir Anthony "Hannibal" Hopkins was also an excellent Zorro, but my main beef with Banderas' portrayal is the scene where he undresses Elena AND the fact that he KILLS (in the Disney and Family Channel shows and the first few minutes of "The Mask Of Zorro" featuring Hopkins as Zorro, Zorro NEVER killed anyone or undressed anyone).
I am afraid you are wrong on both counts. In the episode Fair Trial, Zorro undressed Sgt. Garcia out of his uniform while he was asleep.
In the second season, Zorro undress Don Basilio with his sword in humiliation.
And the Hopkins Zorro and Disney Zorro did kill. The Hopkins Zorro caused a sergeant to be killed when he made all his soldiers shoot him (beginning of the movie) and Disney Zorro killed many times in the Eagle storyline and once in the Mountain Man storyarc.
sorry. I haven't seen all the episodes of the Disney Zorro (but I DO remember that bit from "The Mask Of Zorro" now that you mention it), but he NEVER killed or undressed anyone in the 1920 film version nor in the Family Channel show.
Sorry, I meant nothing wrong just answering the question :) I personally think that this was a great show and I watch it every time it appears on TV. Guy Williams was absolutely charming in the show.
Don't say that, about the singing! It's far nicer when you believe he's the one who is singing! My hero! No seriously, such a good show! Childhood memories!

Is it really Guy Williams who sings or is it a voice-over?

@funandlovegirl I thought the same thing too. I don't think that was Guy Williams. I wonder if he could sing at all.

For those who are interested,
All the zorro episodes were colored (obviously) and you can see a small mistake the artists made whilst coloring.
Between 0:56 & 0:58 in the video while garcia is drinking, his right sleeve turns from blue to red.

If I were Monasterio, I'd have challenge Diego to a duel. It was an insult.

Guy Williams can't play at all. He never changed the chords.
FabioGrohI 2 years ago
I think it's an exaggeration to say he's even playing a chord, but it's still pimpin'.

I'm sorry, I must have missed that. You're rght. I was just to fast to assume that by "play" you mean "act" in general... Sorry for that! ;)

And most of all this guy (Guy, lol) is sooo charming ;). Banderas is no comparison to him and Hopkins perhaps suits Hannibal, but c'mon, not Zorro

I sing of the lovely Elena
A lady so charming and sweet
I bring all my songs to Elena
and lay all my dreams at her feet
I know that the fair senorita
has lovers who tremble and sigh
they long for a smile from Elana
but no one longs longer than I

I honestly think that Duncan Regehr, Douglas Fairbanks (the original Zorro) & Guy Williams were excellent as Zorro, but Banderas STINKS.

No no no! Banderas was good too!
But this one is so great..! I loved Zorro since I saw this series on tv..!
To the queen as well!!!

Don't forget Anthony Hopkins, yes? He was the original Zorro in the Mask of Zorro who passed it on to Banderas because he really had no choice, haha.

Actually, I saw Zorro kill someone in this series... and shrug it off.
The episode's name is "The Unmasking of Zorro".
Razor9350 2 years ago
I saw the episode, but I thought the guy simply fell off the roof in shock, as the Alcalde did in "The Devil's Fortress."
ShakespeareHamlet 2 years ago
ShakespeareH: No. He died. The storyline that the episode's based on had the evil commande die after unmasking Don Deigo as Zorro.
TherealRNO 2 years ago
yea, but Zorro didn't kill the Alcalde in
"The Devil's Fortress." He never killed anyone in the 1990's series.
