Genesis - Six Hours Live, 1972-1980. Genesis was a progressive band in the 70s. When Peter Gabriel & Steve Hackett left the sound changed to what you hear today. This 2-DVD set shows Genesis in concert during those creative years and it's a side of Genesis newer fans should get to know. We revamped the audio, the video is excellent and THESE particular versions of these shows in compilation form are available NOWHERE else.
Great effort, but 11 years have passed by... Almost all the tunes from this tour I'm seeing on YouTube are performed in lower key, probably to not stress Phil's voice... (Turn It On Again is in B, they're now playing it in A) Older age has settled in, indeed. Very nice to watch an ultracompact Duke Suite as opener (in the right key!). Bravo for Genesis regardless!
No way could Phil sing it like he used to. I'm impressed that he's out there after the problems he's had, but ya know? MAN I WANT TO SEE THEM LIVE! Just for once! : )
Being a Great Fan of Genesis of all Ages I have to tell how disappointed I am out of this Tour and the band, being In Venezuela we have bearly managed to see performing bands like Yes,Rick Wakeman,PFM,Camel,Ian Anderson and so the Greatest Steve Hacket, but nowdays Genesis even though being so ¨loaded¨ has simply overlooked at us... Real Shame! always wanted to see Tony Banks perform...
Wow! I wish they would come to Asia...can't get on a plane just to see Genesis, much as I would like to. Had they ever played "Dukes End" live before?
police rules? police is boring compared to genesis! and the so called sold out concerts? well it´s just a money making tour, that´s it, wheras genesis do it mainly for fun.
Seems like poor Mike & Daryl had to relearn every song in different keys, because in all videos of the new tour, that I've seen so far, the original songs had been transposed down several semitones, because Phil can't sing as high as in the 80s anymore. Or the poor Guitar techs had to pitch those instruments down, all the time... :-)
Really, I don't see them going ANYWHERE down ANY semitones. Phill just doesn't "skweek" at the end of the verses, and it's normal, but apart of that... JUST GREAT!
I would imagine it was a little of both, that or it's entirely possibly to actually down tune the guitar through the effects pedals or similar without actually doing anything at all. That or they have different guitars with different tunings. Can be anything.
fucking amazing!!! im 18 and i finally get a chance to see them in ottawa sept 15th! i cant wait. i wish phil would go solo again. but seeing genesis is like a dream come true. incredible, this sounds great! their really giving it their best. hope this guy posts more clips!! THANKS!!!
I was in Helsinki and the concert was absolutely marvellous! Thank you all Genesis guys!!! The audience was not in a coma but frozen in astonished ecstasy! Yeah, we don't dance that much, but it's because "WE CAN'T DANCE, we cant't sing..." - but we CAN LISTEN!
Helsinki audience is too cool! It's a shame for the daylight too. Can't wait for Paris and Lyon! Genesis guys, you will see a true Genesis audience! No cool people! :P
Finns are know to applaud delivered performance, not just statue. If audience looked like frozen, sadly so did most of the band also. Collins was the one that kept it all together. Music wise, which should be the main issues in the first place, we were offered a great mixture from Genesis musical portfolio. Not just their newest hits, but also great depictions of their older songs. Great playing, great songs, it was majestic :-)
huh! i watched this last night and still have hard time believing it actually took place! bear in mind that we finns live in very cold climate (+4 annual average) - it takes a while before bouncing, the 3rd tune was IN THE CAGE, then the stadion bounced!!!
maybe because 90 % of the audience were over 50 with "company tickets" ans 10% real fans ;) no.. really.. The audience were so stunned that we were able to jump etc. after 1st medley..
would anyone know what's the music they used before the intro cue? it's one of those common acoustic tracks you never know who made them

Much better than Rock Honors. The band seems much more "into it" than they did there. Sounds very cool.
Put this gig in Chicago, everyone would be on their feet enjoying themselves, screaming, having fun. October 2nd cant come soon enough!

Depending on where you go, most genesis/phil collins fans can be laid back at the shows, when they should be pumped.
