I got to see this in the theatre when it came out since he filmed it in my hometown of Tulsa. Most of the places he shot at are still there. He gives the location of each place on the commentary of the DVD.

The competition killed it. It had to go up against 'Honey I shrunk the kids' among other comedies that summer. UHF was a great movie, but it never stood a chance against the others. If they weren't there, it could have been a major block buster.
