The killing floor refers to working in a slaughter house, but in the context of the song it just means live in real poverty stricken times begging foor work food or money. The Killing floor being somewhere where there is no hope. as for this version great job sir very nice. if people love this song as i do also check out Kelly Joe Phelps verion 9 mins of perfection.

Tab is how I learned it. I found it online somewhere. Not hard to play but you have to retune the guitar. Good luck!

It is not just drop D tuning, you need to retune almost all of the stings. Search on "skip james tuning" and you will see a video called "John Cephas on tuning for Skip James" that explains it. Most tab will show the tuning but the video is easy to follow.
