I am so happy to say add my voice to the cacophony of your legions of fans by saying this: Will you marry me, you cat loving, princessbride quoting, bluesplaying god of a man? This is really beautiful.
Oh wow... you seriously are THE most interesting and dimensional individual I have seen in a long time. Congratulations! Kudos on intriguing me once again. =] keep it up...
by the way, your voice is... just, great. =] post more songs!!
The killing floor refers to working in a slaughter house, but in the context of the song it just means live in real poverty stricken times begging foor work food or money. The Killing floor being somewhere where there is no hope. as for this version great job sir very nice. if people love this song as i do also check out Kelly Joe Phelps verion 9 mins of perfection.
man this song is an old bluse classic, it is about hard times and working on a "killing floor" like the guy who works killing the cattle at the feed lot. hard work hard times

I carefully studied this song off of the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack. I listened to it again and again. The guitar requires special tuning so I could only practice this song again and again.
Tuning is D minor. See additional info in video information. I've included a link to another video that explains the tuning. Not hard to play once you tune the guitar and find the tab online.
Hey, Paul, I'm 5'10" and have been told I'm good-lookin,' and I'm a huge (not size-wise; I'm very slim) fan! I love kitties, fly private aircraft, and sing as often as I can. Lots in common! :) Just keep me in mind...!! ;)
I fell in love with you. Perhaps cause I share your way of cat-interaction. And because you are the proof that engineers are able to show feelings. Just a bit more thought out and backed by the will to do it.
Only problem is: I am a heterosexual guy. So here is a hug:
It is not just drop D tuning, you need to retune almost all of the stings. Search on "skip james tuning" and you will see a video called "John Cephas on tuning for Skip James" that explains it. Most tab will show the tuning but the video is easy to follow.
I'll try it that way, I'm pretty sure the tab I use is also right it's just a completly other tab :) But I like the way it sound with you so i'll try it your way now !
Did you grow the beard for the cats or to BE a cool cat. Don't think the crickets and rain sounds went unnoticed----very cool dude-----all----very cool.
Watching this made me pick up my guitar again and learn to play this song. It took me a few weeks, but I'm pretty proud, all thanks to your inspiration!
lol what's with people "falling in love" with some guy who posts videos on youtube.. that's pretty funny. But I must say your videos are well done, quite clever, and highly amusing. The fact that you also play the guitar and sing is cool as well. I have found that the guitar is a relatively easy to learn and exceptionally enjoyable instrument. Keep on with the great videos.
Not bad! I especially like the storm with the frogs/crickets in the background. I'm beginning to wonder if my brother, also a rocket scientist, will eventually get to owning 3 cats as well...
I like how you put that..."between opportunities"...very tactful. :-) You should travel. You'd probably have a place to stay in every city. You might have to put up with some harassment, though...haha.
Wow. I went from Engineers Guide to Cats to this, and I'm taken aback at how well you perform both deadpan humor and slow, melancholy blues at the opposite side of the spectrum!
Not to mention that the nighttime thunderstorm noises coming through the window are too perfect, hahaha :)
Wonderful! Every video is an even more pleasant surprise than the previous one! You sing and play beautifully. The atmosphere in this one is like something out of a movie.
Wow, that is stark contrast from the comedy. You are certainly the comedy and the tragedy.: ) Whatever, this is gorgeous. This style seems so natural to you.
Reminds me of "Not in Nottingham" by Roger Miller in Disney's Robin Hood, which is awesome. I look forward to more of your work including more cat videos!
Listening with the wind rattling the old trees outside my bedroom window. Perfectly timed. When was this recorded? Same storms hitting us all over the country; we're all connected through weather-- and the internet... ;)
As it happens, I found this on a day I need it the most. Thank you for a great rendition, sir.
