They're the biggest attraction to Dynasty now. It's simple business. Now that BD is gone, Phantom is the biggest marketing tool for Dynasty as far as their marching products are concerned. They won't let Phantom leave.
As long as Rennick is there anyway. Not to mention, they've got the sweetest deal with Dynasty imaginable, and Dynasty is all about improving their products. Rennick's input is invaluable. They won't let HIM leave, I should say.
I thought about that. It makes sense though. It's funny that after all the equipment choices Phantom has made, Yamaha has never been one of them. I wonder if they'll eventually pick up Dynasty horns?
@jadebrew Regiment played on Dynasty Bugles for YEARS and years, but were on mainly Pearl Drums (in the field battery). They just went to the Jupiter horns in the past few years.
i agree about the snare sound. when snares aren't dry and choked out they project better and sound great from far away. wet snares also cover up a lot of dirt too.
well i don't personally tune it that wet and the line at my school isnt very big so dirt isn't that much of an issue for us. but im just saying that wet snares will cover dirt up.
I had the pleasure to work with Scott and Paul both (Scott 05,06; Paul 07,08). Scott encourages dutting but not 'over hyping' the duts. Meaning that it should be loud enough for the line to hear, not the crowd.
Paul absolutely hated dutting when he was with us.
I'd highly disagree most judges like drumlines to do that. I know I and other adjudicators encourage ensembles to use silent entrances and quiet cues, many of us find it incredibly annoying and detracting in terms of effect. You try and get rid of them by end season for perfomances.
I don't think PR uses duts in performance. If they did during Finals weekend- I didn't hear it in any of the videos I have head
il have to try them, but ive heard good things. i dint think mike mcintosh's were marching sticks. my all time favorite sticks have to be lalo davilas tho.
yeah it is pretty funny. most judges like drumlines to do it. but i know that dutting to loud at a soft part can be bad because everyone can hear it instead of just the drumline. i know that our drumline does it. and our instructors prefer us to instead of counting,.
jesus their drill was hard in 08

@jimmyeatworld9392 in a field ensemble situation, the person farthest back usually is the one that taps off... but yea, he's pretty damn good too

ScoJo doesn't like dutting either. He judged us at WGI prelims this year. Didn't like the dutting, but liked the music enough to give us a 93.
