  • The greatest music comes from slavic souls. Rachmaninoff, Borodin, Dvorak, Smetana, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and many others. Most of

.them were composers with brain and heart... I am so thankful to those who post these marvelous masterpieces here, thank you very much!

  • I had a copy of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra playing this piece which was fantastic and the modern pianist Fabio Bidini, very technical, yet does a great job with the overall feel and emotion of this piece. Check him out on youtube.

  • Orchestra is phenomenal

  • I love this song, truly my favourite, im trying to learn variation 19, every recording i hear is different, admittedly this isnt my favourite, but probs because of accoustics. ashkenanzy's is a little faster. rach love xD

  • What is fascinating to me is that he composed this in 1934 and died in 1943.So this recording was made during this time.It sounds like it was recorded yesterday.

  • This is such a brilliant execution it's as if I'm hearing this piece for the first time, I wonder if this can be found on disc

  • @88jerome Oh, this is easily found on CD. Just do a search on amazon or ebay and you'll find lots (issued on RCA and on Naxos)

  • He sure is!

  • I LOVE THIS PIECE! Especially the final two variations! Variation 18 is beautiful! Thanks for posting this! It's good to know how the composer intended it to be!

  • I must agree :)

I love the 19th Variation, myself.
