@STRUMMER772003. What makes this show so great is the joe wasnt even all that into it. He was in a bad mood from start to finish and on mag-7 he stresses his bad mood. "to that man who is enjoying himself so much in here". There are better bootlegs though I just love this Call up its might be the greatest track i have ever heard and my friends agree it rocks.
In 1981 there was the threat of the very kind of militarism we have now. Only public rejection meant that sending troops to Afghanistan or Central America was not a viable political move. Also the song refers to the nuclear clock...the mad superpowers had pushed the world to the brink.
i have heard almost all live clash bootlegs and i gotta say this is the greatest performance of any song they have ever did. If any you have a subwoofer crank it up and give a listin to Topper and Mick just owning.
@MustafaHamsho Yes: The Call Up is the draft. There was no draft in 81, but a law had been passed that men (& woman) had to register for the draft. Everyone thought the draft was next. I remember; I had to register
Killing version !!!!!!!!!!

I'm hoping current economic difficulties produce a popular band that matters.
World needs another Clash.

I think this version lacks the thing that made the studio version so great, but I cannot give it a thumbs-down.
Anyway, I was there, and I was also at the show at the Pier, where they played White Riot in a freaking gale. These were amazing shows, really.
