i have never cared for a dock except for my ipod video
(the dock came with a home surround sound theatre thing i got so thats why i have one > for music)
other then that a ipod cable is only meant for chargining as well as a dock so why spend 50 bucks for a dock when yu got a free cable with the ipod yu bought?
First off stop with the childish remarks. Buying a dock is not "stupid". I said I'd rather spend the 50 bucks than to take the time to make this thing. First off, IF I purchased something, it's going to have better form and function. Making this, I'd be wasting my time for something that's not aesthetically pleasing (IMO). Or as you suggested, I'd just use the the ipod/iphone cable.

good point... but the 50 bucks dock have the remote access which i use alot cuz i normally don't touch my iphone unless i have to put in new music/videos. I normally stuck it to the dock i attach to my wall, i know there's speaker with docks and remote but I already got a logitech z5500 i spend for 400 bucks...
