  • Actually, at my church, we sing this stuff all the time, and just like Clara Ward. We had a gospel choir back in the 50's that more or less specialized in Clara Ward music. We are in South Carolina, and that is where Gertrude Ward was from. There is a woman on the Inspirational Choir right now who has been singing this song and "How I Got Over" for 50+ years. There were other choir members who sang other Ward songs, like "When the Gates Swing Open," but a lot of those people are gone.
