It's been five years since I freaked out on psychedelics and the transformation has been very slow...including panic attacks, depression, ongoing anti-anxiety drug addiction, suicidal thoughts, despair...I don't know when this is going to come to some sort of resolution. Although, of course, I cannot go back and I see that ''normal'' is a relative term.
@squamish4244... I was wondering if you've had an opportunity to get support from a transpersonal therapist, or someone in the psychospiritual and/or spiritual psychology field who is familiar w/ spiritual emergence/y & might be able to help guide you through this challenging time, so you can integrate it more smoothly and find some peace and resolution w/ this.
@squamish4244 ...Also, have you looked into reading the books 'Spiritual Emergency' & 'The Stormy Search for Self' - both by S. Grof & C. Grof. They have helped me a great deal while going through a severe SE myself, for almost 3 yrs now
@arusso961 Hello, thank you for your concern. Yes, I have received a great deal of help over the years, and about three years ago found Tom Adams of Eastern Healing Arts in CT, who has been through his own crisis, and does distance healing work and gives advice over the phone (I am in Canada). I highly recommend him as by far the best healer I have found after much searching. He has been especially effective at calming the raging kundalini. I agree with you eating denser foods for grounding.
@arusso961 Also, I have read the first book and found it to be very helpful. P.S. what triggered your SE? It's interesting to meet someone on here who has had similar experiences, because so many of the comments on spiritual videos (e.g. Tolle's and Adyashanti's, although I respect them personally) are stereotypical platitudes from people who seem to think they are already enlightened (''I am the one'', ''I live in the eternal present, etc.''). It's hilarious.
I had a spiritual emergency that lasted in its extreme form for three months. It took another 6 months to get back to normal. Although I wished it to go away, as it did I realised I was losing something infinately precious. For three years after I researched the topic pasionately. It has been seven years... Yet here I am, still researching.
My advice to anyone undergoing spiritual emergency: Don't panic, drink lots of water, eat only raw fruit or vegetables, and rest often...
@mlatchu56 I've been going through SE for almost 3 yrs now and while I do agree that it's important to eat healthy, including fruits and vegetables, if the SE is severe in nature and the energy and electricity surging through the body is more intense than you can handle I would actually highly recommend eating denser foods, like animal proteins, meat, etc- if you can tolerate them. It helps ground the energy and slow things down, which is preferrable.
