Hong Kong has always been an amazing city to me! With the mountains in the background and such compact buildings all squashed to fit in between the mountains and the harbor. Except the only thing i hate is them ugly apartment buildings that look the same..
Hong Kong, Shanghai, any asian city and any city in the world - for that matter - is no match for New York. Asian skyscrapers look so cheesy, boring and simply CHEAP. When it comes to architecture of highrises New York as of now has no competition.
And whats just as important as the facts i mentioned above? - check New York City's grid and density of buildings. It's stunning and nothing comes even close to big apple. There are just miles and miles of densely, continuosly built up streeets.
I vote for Hong Kong as the city with the best skyline. New York City lacks the eye candy which Hong Kong's skyline has. NYC, where are your bright fiery red lights (my favorite color is red, so go figure), any searchlights, what about laser-lights? I also prefer new skyscrapers over old ones, they look nice and shiny instead of old, and dusty. In addition, Hong Kong's skyline features a Symphony of Lights, where is New York City's Symphony of Lights? I say Hong Kong is in it's own league. HK+1
just lookat where most skyscrapers are planned and designed, e.g. your mentioned shanghai, which only has the WFC which stands out the most, the rest is again china like dirty condo highrises that looks piss-poor and dirty, nothing to brag about in numbers, NYC has always and will always lead true numbers and quality.
yellow and greay ? to which NY have you benn? besides, neon light shows at nights ain't nothing to me, NY never aimed to go for something like that, if you wanna see neon lights then go to Vegas, NY ain't no disney city which HK looks to me while switching to power on to those neon lights. NY is architecture and business. more "en vogue" one could also say. they're gonna add up buildings in the years to come which will dense it's skyline even further, i've seen many plans and pictures,
Yeah, we heard you the first time. NYC over HK, right? Excellent. Stay where you are. Don't come over here. Why should we share our fantastic food, unmatchable shopping, splendid Ocean Park and wondrous natural sights with a mindless bigot like you.
oh that won't be hard at all, i wouldn't even wanna be in HK even if i got paid for it, :D share you oh so wonders in your dirty polluted lil' ex british colony with your fellow dream catchers boy . NYC !!! first time, everytime anytime ....
Yeah, cos the success of Hong Kong frequently makes sour grapes out of provincial NYC lovers ::::::)))))). Here's another word for you to look up, *provincial*
you better look up the definition of the word success , just ask anybody around the world to make a quick association with big city and skyscrapers, and guess what you'll get to hear about 90% at least, get real son! :D you can't be serious otherwise you hong kongers are truly beyong stupid :D
You get real, bud. You live in the 70's. You wanna talk skyscrapers? You think the world stands still as you have? Hong Kong's skycrapers officially outnumber NYC's. The tallest skycraper in the world is in Dubai. The second in Taipei. And then there's Shanghai. Where's NYC? Oh yes, left in the dust.
so you think the number of skyscrapers matters kid!? U must be truly stupid, with HK having mostly those ugly bunker like dirty condo highrises, and with the "tallest" burj which has been planned by an american architect team and build by koreans theres not much to brag about on your side. plus the total height is cheated witch a major sting like spire on top of it. NYC has so many design awared projects and amazing things to be build and is THE place, HOME of highrises and skyscrapers kid.
yawn yawn yawn, like HK you obviously don't have much to offer. no problem kid, stay where you are, inhale some smog and indulge some filthy food in one of HKs little overcrowded dirty alleys :D and remember, NYC is THE place to be when it comes to skyscrapers for real,
You're so green with jealousy, aren't you? Just can't accept the fact the there's an end to everything like an end to NYC's being the top city in the world. My condolences. But the world is a cruel place. There's always someone around the block who will just come in a replace you. Cest la vie. Grow up and live with it!
name me ONE thing to be jelous of with your little HK ? boy you need to do some accepting here, when you really believe in HK being anywhere near new york when it comes to class in general and reputation around the world you are truly beyond any idiotic measures and then you can only be piitied, i'm starting to even feel sorry for you, obviosly you alreday suffered heavily from HKs pollution and some food poisining as well i guess :D
@CHUUMPASS. NYC is old... HK is new. Plus it has more skyscrapers than NYC. NYC has to share it's crown with someone, that someone ain't Chicago, nor Shanghai, def not Tokyo, Dubai or Taipei.
NYC is rather historic than old, plus that's exactly what makes NY so special its art deco themed buildings paired with the modern steel and glas structures, you should check out the future developments for NY such as Girasole, World Product Center,Tower Verre, Hudson Place Towers, Manhattan West Towers, ect. all stunning new architecture to transform and forge NY's skyline once again. plus NY is the epitomy of metropolis like no other city regardless of skyscraper numbers my friend. ;)
@walkertexasranger33 Your point is NY's way more $ than HK? Don't make me laugh. Yes, NY still makes more than HK today. But the margin is narrow and narrowing. HK is now the 3rd largest financial capital in the world. Just 2 places behind the big apple. The important is the future. NY is backed by USA, HK is backed by China. Who's going up and who's coming down. No prize for guessing right.
@CHUUMPASS. Both HK and NYC are known as "World's Vertical Cities"...

It's probably HK that will ever rival NYC.

NYC is on top, but the only realistic rival NYC has is probably HK and Chicago.

HK buildings actually look a lot nicer than NYC's buildings. Have you ever taken a look? (no seriously, all pride and hubris aside for a moment)

@trent8002003 lmao so ignorant. sky scrapers dont mean much if one city is making way more money then another.

Sorry... but NYC seems to be yellow and grey.
Lack of colors. At night? Compare night to Hong Kong. That is nothing.
A dark city. Even Los Angeles have more neon lights than all the buildings in NYC.

this place is filled up with skyscrapers
who still wants to go to newyork?
lol i still want to go to NY
but i wish i can afford to go to hongkong

hongkong in the other hand the plane tickets alone cost 1800$ hotels are super expensive too!
