Flew from LCY to DUB on CityJet in an Avro...the pilot held the brakes until the engines were at 100%...we took off like a rocket! Reminded me of the take-offs and landings at MDW in Chicago.
11F? :) I sat in the same place few weeks ago. I experienced almost the same acceleration and climbing than in an A320, but it's a significantly different feeling in an Avro. You feel it dramatic, but it isn't. However, you can TRAVEL in an A320, and you can FLY in an Avro. I liked all the other airplanes, but I really love Avro's unique personality, its noises and design. Thx for the video!
I like the Avro RJ's unique wing fixing. I like the plane as a whole, and I think it's a shame they're not being made anymore. Perhaps a more economical two-engine design would have made it more popular....
There is a difference between watching the video on youtube and sitting IN the airplane. Trust me, it was a powerful take off. Especially if you compare it to an Airbus 320 oder Boeing 737.
damn this is fast!

How were you able to record under the wing?

I been on one of these - they do take off quite quickly

@worldsbiggestwizard because the wings are on top on an AVRO RJ, not very confusing

Really Powerfull
I hear the engine trust, pilot applies directly full takeoff power.
zurinok 1 year ago
thats pretty powerful its almost like instead of bringing the throttles up slow that was like 24 N1 to 96 N1 in 2 or 3 seconds.

i agree lol, a take off on this is a hell of an experience its a really intense take off! yet it seems ages before it actaully lifts into the air XD

This comment has received too many negative votes show
that was a regular take off ... why dramatize a normal situation?

that is really powerful take off because of 2engines every one wing :) ... Nice video..
astoniz 1 year ago
@astoniz Number doesn't matter.. those engines are weak. Must have just been a light payload.
scaremenga 1 year ago
@FatihFrankfurt Theses planes power to weight ratios are not any better than a 737 or a320 at empty weight and max takeoff weight.
basslover352 5 months ago
@FatihFrankfurt But there is nothing powerful about an Avro. They do say the APU is the 5th engine. :D

irgendwie schon noch heftig, wenn man sich vorstellt, was da ca.2 meter neben einem für ne enorme Kraft aus den doch so kleinen triebwerken kommt^^

Where did you fly to? London?
BritishBoy1993 2 years ago
Yes, London City Airport.
FatihFrankfurt 2 years ago
I actually like this plane alot because of it's size, power and manouverability.
I fly this plane at least once a month and I definately prefere it to MD-80 wich is the alternative when the flight it's overbooked.
Can just hear the sound at the end when the flaps are retracted, this normally freaks people out if they have never flown it before.

It felt like flying in a fighter jet to me.

i expect that is a totaly different experience with the wing above you but must be good

Indeed, it is. I liked it but I still prefer bigger airplanes.
