When I first seen Scott Travis play drums live it about wore me out. I said "that guys gotta be on crank" and my friend turned to me and said "No, that guy IS crank"
@dudey91 Dave Holland drumming sucks, a complete travesty to the previous effort of Les Blinks who had real groove. Scott Dravis bring the hard hitting metal back to the riffs of Priest
Scott i by far the best drummer drummer in metal period. look at his work from Racer X and to Judas. I have seen him playing to a crowd of 50 and he is just the same... He loves to play drums and it is a craft to him and he practices to stay sharp. The beauty of what he does is he makes it look too easy. But all the way back tom him playing in Teaser or Hooker ( early 80's in Hampton Roads VA ) he was heads and shoulders above everyone else.
Just like just about every other drummer does live. It makes the drums, particularly his bass drum sound the same in every arena. He doesn't have to worry about mic position or acoustics.
@benalmodova Louie Bellson pioneered double bass drumming and was one of the most accomplished drummers ever, so to say it is "undrummerish" (which comes from a comment of Nicko McBrain's and is not your own) shows remarkable ignorance.
@mattvansickle everyone, even my stupid brother, who knows nothing of drums, sounds good with a double bass. it makes the worst drummers sound better than they are. the only drummers with double bass that are good are scott travis, niel peart, charlie benante, and mike portnoy. the douuble bass takes most of the fun out of drumming too. do you want me to say what i wanted to say? because itll cause you to cry like the justin beaver lover you are. most people who use double bass are pussies
@benalmodova Further evidence of ignorance. As for crying "like the justin beaver lover" that I am? Grow up little boy. Why do people always go straight to insults on YouTube? Easier than constructing a coherent argument, I suppose, and totally safe. I see you are in that dividing up music into "tough guys" or "pussies" stage. Music as competition. Give it a few years and you'll find that music has nothing to do with such infantile schoolyard posturing. Actually you probably won't.
@benalmodova btw most single bass drum drummers yous a dubble bass pedal thing to corse the same efect eg nico so that ised on your logick m8 i wald tall u the name of the fing but i carnt rember
@benalmodova ... How can you leave Gavin Harrison out of that list? He's the only guy that plays double bass rudimentary and rhythmcally, the guys a master at everything..
@creationofsociety i think that hey are both very good drummers and they play totally different so it is hard to say who is better but men who cares the music they do is amazing and thats the piont
This is a great compilation of Scott's incredible drumming. It also serves to reinforce how disappointing the last 2 Priest albums were. Scott sounded like he was asleep on the drums for those albums- which was not his fault, because those songs were BORING, especially on "Nostradamus".
you are right about "Nostradamus". The songs and drumming is really boring in that album, but I don't agree on "Angel Of Retribution". That album has great tracks!

Thanks for putting this up =D Scott is my biggest inspiration and my favourite drummer of all time. He blows most metal drummers out of the water not just skill wise but stage presence and showmanship too! He's so awesome.
Scott plays them backwards for two reasons....bigger sound and he hits the drums so hard, that if he played them regular they would break constantly. Even turned around, they break several times in a show.
You need to read more closely. It says, "When he was 18, he thought about setting up in drumset in the parking lot of a Priest show so they could hear him play." What part of that sentence says he joined Priest at 18??
Priests music in the 80's was phenomenal I just wish we'd have had a skinsman like Scott in those days as the tracks cried out for inventive, thumping rhythms that crash/bang/thud Holland could NOT do, he made Phil Rudd of AC/DC sound technical. Les Binks took Priest to a great level before that and Scott after. Just back from the Sheffield gig last night, brilliant as ever!
Hey, you left out a little of Scott's history. Before Racer X he was in Hawk. I just posted a video of Hawk featuring Scott on YouTube a couple of days ago. You can search on "Hawk No One To Love" I have his drum solo from the show that I'll be posting before long. Hey, if you're going to tell the story, don't forget to include the beginning.

@dudey91 The live 2010 version of British Steel is a friggen improvement (like a reverse George Lucas)
Drumming is more badass thanks to Scott. The original drummer
In fact they should just have Scott replace all the drumming from British Steel to Ram it Down in remaster versions

Those 24x24's sure look cool, but Scott triggers all of his drums, so the sound you're hearing isn't really them.
