9.7 seconds???? Every other review puts this vehicle at 8.5 or under. Not sure who was driving that 0-60 test but it didn't look like they were in a hurry to get off the line.
For a crossover vehicle like the Honda Pilot, I would've expected more torque from the 3.5 litre V6 than it does. It puts out more than enough horsepower, (at 250hp), but such a vehicle needs more torque to get up hills. I'd give it 300lbs-ft of low end torque.
219,000 miles on our 2003 Pilot EX-L. Just routine scheduled service has kept it running like a top! My family has owned Honda's since the 1970's and nothing but Honda's. Our latest Honda is a more fuel efficient 2011 CR-V in the EX-L trim. So far it's averaged 29 MPG City/Hwy mixed driving. Better than expected.
But we will continue to have a need for a 3rd row for years to come and we will replace our 2003 Pilot with another new EX-L 4WD. That will probably happen by 2013 (3rd Generation?).
My '04 R50 has a 3.5 with a 4 speed, but still only takes 8.2 seconds to get to 60 and stops in 125' on dry road. Also gets 17.4 mpgs in mixed spirited driving. not to mention its brilliant 4wd system.
OK I am going to take my moms pilot and drop it like 3 inches take everything out and put a roll cage bring the hp up to 500 with turbo built motor and high psi and new rims and tires and go drifting. Oh and a TSX 6 speed manual tranny This is going to be the best year of my life
Love the new one model but 250hp is a downgrade. My '05 with stock 268 was peppy. I did engine and exhaust mods for a 0-60 7 sec flat. I guess even with this boxier model a few mods could improve acceleration.
Most of the pilots out there barely go in for service besides require maintenance. Consider that before buying a kia or chevy. Mazda I hope you're doing ok but time will tell.
today, I test drove this car and so impressed with it. It looked like tank to me ( tough powerful, manly, and strong looking). it is awesome car, it looks awesome and it drives very nice
man, what happened to the Pilot?! Just when you thought the Pilot could not get any more "nothing special"; it did. Sorry but over 40k, 16 mpg, 0-60 in 9.7 sec, and over 150ft 60-0 braking are all VERY unimpressive. There is no way Honda is going to sell as many units as they did with the previous model. Also, is it just me, or is this car ugly as hell?? It looks like a giant red refridgerator on wheels. :S
@4MATICbenz only 253 lb-ft of torque?WOW a 97 Chevy Blazer makes 250 and only 16/22 MPG? a Chevy Tahoe gets 16/21 agree, If this was an American Vehicle they would be get ripped for building this vehicle, Honda is crazy if they think ppl are going to waste 40 grand on this or Ridgeline truck
Honda needs to wake up or they will be like GM and Chrysler and need bailouts.
Sorry to burst your bubble but the Pilot is selling like hot cakes. It's outselling Explorer and Flex combined and going past the 100 grand mark annually.
Previous MDX had nice handling but a bit bouncy for suv. it's was too light, it wouldn't keep straingt going over many little bumps in wet day. being sibling of MDX I wonder this truck looking car based SUV drives like SUV, nice and firm or light and bouncy.. Hmm~
Man i'm sorry this scared me. Please don't read this you will die in seven days if you don't post this comment on ten videos in the next hour,if you do tomorrow will be the best day of your life
fuel efficient? im sorry but if chevy can produce a 430hp corvette that gets 26mpg hwy and a freakin tahoe that gets 23mpg hwy they should be able to do better than 22 i mean seriously

I'd rather get a truck that gets TWICE the gas mileage, and is .3 seconds slower going up to 60mph. You don't even notice the fucking difference. Much less Nissan cars kinda suck the balls.
My brother's 06 Titan is a piece of complete shit.

hmmmm the pilot need's 8.7 second's a v6 equipped pathfinder will pull to 60 in 7.3 and a v8 pathfinder will do it in 7 flat, not to mention my v6 pathfinder will tow 2500 more pound's than the pilot and the 4.0L in the pathfinder makes more torque and more power, it stop's 134 feet versus the 148 feet in the pilot from 60. The 4.0L vq series in the pathfinder will run for ever and will always out pace the honda.
you said it brother, i love my pathfinder!! that VQ gives out more torque than any other comparable 4.0L combined that with the horses and woo hoo can outrun most 4wd and even some cars for that matter..
I'm not taking up for the Pilot or the Pathfinder...but if you're worried about 0-60 times why are you buying a midsized SUV in the first place? Go look at GTO's or Corvettes or something.
Thats what the Highlander is for. That gets even better MPG then this. The 4Runner is for 2003. Its outdated. It should get a full list of updates for 2010.
with gas prices like 5.50 a gallon, no one will opt for a v8. the pilot has a third row seat and 4runner dosent. the 4runner is made for off-roading anyways
Why would they even make a rear wheel drive that has a v8? Its pointless in parts of north america because there are parts where there is snow and snow could be slippery on the road. It wouldnt help if there was over steer...
first to compliment there f1 racing background, second to fix the weak trans-axle and axle shaft that keeps breaking when excess torque is applied, third easier access to the axle-shaft and differential, and finally i actually find that hondas are shitty in the snow the best car i have ever driven in the snow was a vw beatle where the steering was independent from the drive train and why are you even bringing snow up? your are a dumb-fuck retard
I'm a Honda guy and everything but man..i never liked the Honda pilot. 250hp and takes over 9 seconds to get it to go from 0-60. My 1995 accord with 145hp inline 4 is faster than that.
I Say go out and buy a Hummer H3, you get more for your money and the H3 gets 17 City 20 Highway, there is no way this thing is worth 40. they should give you 5 grand in gas money if you pay 40 like wtf this isn't an Escalase or Range Rover
sorry bud, but reliability for a hummer, escalade and landrover are awful. Honda makes great cars that are reliable as hell, and good gas milage. Great fit and finish and more! I agree with you that the prices of hondas are way too high. I think honda is a little too cocky knowing the build the best cars in the world.

Almost 10 seconds 0-60 and 150 to stop are terrible numbers
It's roomy, but a Highlnader has more cargo room, and in almost twice as fast, plus has a Hybrid option
If you have two small kids for the 3rd row, get the Highlander
If you need to carry 7-8 adults, Traverse, if GM is still around
toyotas2006 3 years ago
for power, i would recommend CX-9, Traverse and Borrego.. They all go 0-60 at about 8secs. And they all have better size.
