Wow... That is one heck of a violinist! But, also, such amazing accompaniment! Wonderful performance of them all. If you listen very closely from 2:59 to 3:16 you can hear all those little notes in between the seemingly constant E.

The girl is a good student, there's no doubt on this question. the point is: Nicolaus Harnoncourt had to encore this Bach's concerto with Hilary Hahn, but as he listened to her, he immediately refuse to do that job, telling her "Chose: you change your style and way of playing baroque, otherwise the Concentus and i won't perform with you". and infact. he sended her home and rather spent some time with his nephews.
I think this reaction of Harnoncourt is Ok....but...I am a fan of Hillary and I apreciate her perfection in performances and musical skills very much. I think it was very important the work of Harnoncourt, Leonardt, Koopman, Herrevege.......and I like to hear historical versions, but, Bach music is so important that it's also interesting to hear it with "modern" instruments and I don't give up to it.
Actually, this is her DG debut, but this isn't her DEBUT debut--This also happens to be a Bach album, but this is the concertos. The first CD was unaccompanied violin sonatas and partitas, and she recorded that album in 1996 in NY.
Actually this wasn't her DEBUT debut--This was the first DG album she cut, which oddly enough was also a Bach album just like her first, but that was on Sony, and that was recorded in NY 7 years earlier.
Creo que es la mejor interpretación de esta obra , que eh escuchado!!!

How expensive of violin? Just how many hours of practice? I wonder

I don't like the bowings she's using. It should be 3 notes per bow.
marazm1 10 months ago
@marazm1 I use the same bowing as her and I find it more comfortable to play and I like the sound of it, personally.

I have no words for how amazing this was to watch and experience. The sound is just breathtaking. Brava!

@ande5665
This is the thrid movement from concerto for violin in a minor BWV1041, composed by JS Bach.
Using " Hilary Hahn Bach concerto" as keyword in Amazon would lead you to the album.
Cheers!

stunning in every respect. I think her playing is very athletic and mature FAR beyond her years. I think JS Bach would have loved this.
calloffthedogs 2 years ago
The conductor says "We run from the first movement right?" and then they play the third.
Am I wrong?
Bolorinvasore 2 years ago 31
what ever the hell he said but this movement has 32nd notes in it and i just know they are going to give me all kinds of hell

This is incredible.
I listened her play brahms concerto and her tone was extremely transparent.
I think her real prodigy reside in not only technique but incredibly stable tone.
