Whatever ex minister! All religion and atheist writings aside, you know there is an intelligence that created all orderly things that are ESSENTIAL to our survival. Please, keep trying to deprogram yourself from the God given common sense that there is a higher power worthy of our love and worship..Honestly my friend..two complete opposite ends of the spectrum?? put down all books, go outside and see the amazing works of your creators hands
Student of Theology who saw the light! Congratulations on your realisation and welcome to rational thinking! Man invented religion to control populations. God didn't invent man or if he did, prove it. Even if we assume that God did invent man then which God or Gods did it?! The 2000 year old Jewish carpenter seems to be the fad at the moment but why not Apollo, Zeus, Neptune, Jupiter, Mars, Ra, Buddah, Allah, Thor, etc., etc. Forget God(s) past and present, it's human beings that are important
Since we are an awakened species with the knowledge of good and evil (A conscience of god.) Hence being made in god's own image, he came to earth to give us this choice to go the right way.
Loss of god = Moral decay over generations.
Reveal to yourself the nature of Sin/good and evil. Then you will find the way.
Its happening now, in this time. We are nearing the end days.
May the Christ of god Bless you all upon his return. His ways are true and good.
@koryk1 "We are nearing the end days" - What a positive religion you adhere to!
"Loss of god = Moral decay over generations" - on the contrary, the morals in the bible are brutal and backward. It is society who has improved it's morals greatly over time. Genocide, stonings, slavery and human sacrifice are all acceptable in the bible, however in modern society these are not acceptable.
drsolari says, "humm, "real training". from a fully acredited university. ok, sure "dude".
I am sorry for being so rude. No excuse. The thing is, I was raised Pentecostal and originally ordained Pentecostal and am well familiar with their lack of any real training or serious theological study. I have run into many "ëx-christians" who have read Josh McDowal or Normy Geisler but have never read Dr. Gordon H Clark. Until they have, they have not read the best in our apologetics or philosophy.
You are correct that the typical Pentecostal is not well versed in exegesis and hermeneutics. One of my professors at ORU was actually a protégé of FF Bruce at the University of Manchester and did his graduate work at Cambridge. My Hebrew instructor spent several years in a kibbutz. When I was there in the mid 1980s a lot of the professors in the theology department were at odds with the seed-faith doctrine of Oral Roberts himself. I have read Mcdowell's work several times.
I am not a big fan of Josh McDowal's evidentialist apologetic method. He is also an Arminian. I prefer Dr. Gordon H. Clark Calvinistic scripturalism as continued by the late Dr. John Robbins.
I very much enjoy Penn & Teller - they are completely irreverent and funny. I have read a lot of Ayn Rand's works and her non-fiction is the best of the lot.
My brother is a minister and my family is quite religious. It's not a lot to endure, however - I just try to separate my relationship with my family and dismiss their attempts to tell me that I'm going to hell.
It's a shame that you have to change your family connections, but that said, if their love for you is conditional on you agreeing with their belief in a higher power, you'd probably be able to reasonably assume that they're having trouble understanding.
If you're interested in hearing about other people who've been through a similar situation, I'd suggest the Atheist Experience show. One of the guys was studying to become a minister when his study of the bible lead to him choosing atheism.
I believe I may have misspoke, I still have a good relationship with my family but the separation is one of topic. I try to dismiss what they say and quickly change the subject. check out my 2nd video...

Interesting video. Welcome to what is labeled by theist's, "the world of sinners". Atheism is the only logical choice.
Cheers.

Wow. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for you to change your life so substancially.
For someone in your position to have the strength of character to reject your former beliefs is truely uplifting.
I can only guess at the reactions of friends and family, and I hope that you found some level of acceptance amoung them when(if) they found out.
By all means, keep posting :)
