Descent vehicle mode? What the fuck? It's an amazing vehicle. How many other fuckin optimus prime do you have let alone know, that have opening doors, an opening hood, and legitemate car features? I swear, people can be such hard ass critics. Anyways good review, enjoyable as always.

Bit harsh, he has his faults but all the alts and Bt's have the odd problem. Most of them have small guns as well. The BT version is much nicer mainly because of all the metal and the gorgeous red paint job. There is now a 3rd party gun and matrix available for him if his small pistol bothers you too much :-)

I really like Alternators, but this is probably the weakest of the bunch(still an excellent toy, however). This definitely would have been improved if this was made as Trailbreaker(of which you can find a few kitbashes on the net)rather than Prime.

i had this problem, its becuase you need to tuck the sholeders up more tward the roof of the car, it takes a little bit but just keep pusing his sholders back if that makes sense

Mine doesn'r really have those problems you mentioned, though it can be agreed that the mold needed improving. Sorry, I don't have Mirage because he's not been available in the UK.

I only have 8 of them (there are 27), so I can't make complete comparisons. Alternator transformations are more involved cause of all the realistic detail. Going from easiest to hardest out of the 8 I have it would be... Windcharger, Swindle, Silvertreak, Ravage, Dead End, Optimus Prime, Shockblast and Wheeljack. They are £19.99 in the UK and $19.99 in the US...

Silverbolt? No i'm not terribly keen on his reviews. A bit longwinded to say the least. i think its safe to assume that anyone taking the time to watch transformers reviews on youtube already knows all they need to about the character and don't need to hear him giving a 10 minute character bio. Saying that, i thought his review of MP Megs was extremely funny, although perhaps thats not what he was going for!

I agree with just about everything you said. Far too bulky, and the shoulders ruin the look. I also prefer the crotch plate kept up as you have it, think it looks much better. You said you'd recommend him the least of all your Alternators? He's not great, but surely you think he's better than Dead End? The Viper mold looks ridiculous in robot mode. You mentioned Prowl? Do you have him?

Sorry, I don't have Prowl, otherwise I wouldn't have said that Optimus was the last Alt I have to review. I heard from a website that Prowl was not going to be released in the UK because kids wouldn't recognise the vehicle as an English police car (damn it)...though from what I've seen in other reviews it seems like he has his share of proportion problems.

i have seen quite a few pictures of Prowl, as well as a cool little vid on Youtube called 'on the Prowl', and i quite like the way he is proportioned. I do think the Subaru mold would have suited him much beetter though. Silverstreaks head even looks very reminiscent of Prowl.

Whilst I understand why lots of people think that Prowl should've been the third Subaru, I believe that during that time, Hasbro thought that Prowl was a strong enough character to deserve his own mold. Ricochet on the other hand is hardly known amongst the fandom, hence why he only gets to be a recoloured toy, if you see what I mean.

Yeah i see where you're coming from. In that case perhaps Prowl should have been the first Subaru? Prowl and Mirage are the only Alternators left that i really want. So far i've got Silverstreak, Wheeljack, Shockwave, Swindle and Windcharger, as well as Binaltech Grimlock and Tracks.

On another note, though Dead End's robot mode isn't the best of the line, it at least looks marginally cleaner (unlike Prime who has those sticking out shoulders). I also think Dead End's vehicle mode is better than Prime's.

Agreed, Dead End's car mode is cool looking, but if all we were after was cool looking cars we'd buy model vehicles and not Transformers:) His robot mode would have looked much better if they could have something with his windscreen and bonnet similar to what they did with windcharger.
