has anyone ever noticed that things you learn about in SCHOOL doesn't really help anyone in real life, archealogists don't help us in society! working at a mcdonalds is actually helpful! being a garbage man is useful in society and doesn't require school. the only real helpful things you learn is medical science.

I've been thinking. Instead of going to school to show off our grades, we change around the school system to work for us. Like learning all the basics up to geometry or something take the SATs, and when we get to high school we take classes on what we want to learn. Then when we get to college we just choose the college we want to go to that has the classes we want to take. We should also kick out the letter grade system. Replace it with something else.

Some of the least 'academically successful' students in my years, grew up to be self-made entreprenuers, tradesmen, mechanics, shop owners, or real estate salespersons. some of those 'academic' success stories turned out to be ''unthinking'' and bored citizens who simply won't think outside of the box.
I was an honor student once in high school, but that was because I was on probation at my private school and had to play the game. The rest of the time I followed my "question authority" conviction.

I agree with 99 percent of what Carlin says, but at the end of the day this is one of his points I did not. Of course you should take an interest in what your kids do--not only for their well being but because you are responsible for them until they leave the nest...and I never hated the bumper stickers either --found them cute. I said that on one Carlin vid and got reamed . Ironic that a man who taught us to question everything would have followers who would trash anyone who does.

@sepiasiren One thing is to take interest in what they're doing, another is to tell the world how awesome they are through bumper stickers in a car. I would be pissed off if I was driving relaxed and saw some shit like that in front of me. "I DON'T GIVE A SHIT YOU WHORE" is what would cross my mind. It has happened already with "Jesus is cool", boy do I want to kill someone when I see the car in front of me with that shit. It's obviously there to tell the one behind you.

@TokyoMystify I suppose but I dunno--that just doesn't bug me that much *shrugs* but we all have our pet peeves I guess...I am more angered by things like people being physically abusive to kids in public--or belittling others in forums--I often go all mother hen in that kind of situation. Respond to this video... wait wait wait--I do have to recant my statement a bit. There was one time I did get pissy about a bumper sticker--had to do with this guy posting anti liberal stuff all over his car--like literally ALL OVER the back of his car. Has to be like 20 of them bitches. One Liberals suck bumper sticker okay--but man. That did annoy me cause it was like he was scremaing his political views at me...

A question for you: Would you encourage your children to carry out order that he is given from his teacher,his boss without thinking about it (if it's moral etc,) or you would rather congratulate your kids every-time he makes an "achievement"? An achievement would be of course executing a certain job successfully. E.g, cops arresting peaceful protesters who question gov't cuz it's their "job" = achievement

As much as I support protesting and standing up for your rights, most of the arrests made are against violent protesters, and/or protesters breaking injunction laws. The world isn't black and white...especially one governed by legalities. Put yourself in the cops shoes and you'd do the exact same thing....be happy they don't get shot, unlike other places in the world.

@Haseeebo I haven't witnessed a violent protester. The cops are the ones who are violent and breaking the constitution. People like you would say "they are just doing their job" when their real job is to protect people's RIGHTS as stated in the constitution. That's what George Carlin's message is. QUESTION everything. If your given a god damn order from your boss+commander or w/e YOU don't do it on command like a frigin dog. You question it. Otherwise that would make you a total puppet and slave

Hell, most major protests have their share of violence, and/or lawlessness. Check your injunction laws before you talk about the constitution. I understand what Carlin is saying, and agree with him, but don't be a bitch when you see someone get arrested for acting like an idiot.

Some of the least 'academically successful' students in my years, grew up to be self-made entreprenuers, tradesmen, mechanics, shop owners, or real estate salespersons. some of those 'academic' success stories turned out to be ''unthinking'' and bored citizens who simply won't think outside of the box.
