The majority of time you are recording you want a MONO channel because you usually have ONE microphone. This guy has a special microphone which records 2 channels in stereo. He didn't even bother to mention that!

I am playing my piano...and its with MIDI plugged into a computer and its connected with my CUBASE 5... i can play it...and i have VST instruments...but i have problem... when i record the song what i am playing,in 1st tact the sound lates for 1/4...and my is 4/4...so composition is lating for 1/4 of my bar...

and that is for every sound i take...

@HotsDj you need a audio/midi interface , the interface that comes with your pc is never good enough to record and you will always get latency , thats why when you watch beatmakers or dj's on youtube they have those small boxs beside there equipment , i had exactly the same problem when i started , i purchased a yamaha audiogram that ships free with cubase ai4 ,, hope ive helped

hey i went to devise setup in cubase, but all i get is ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver and Gebetic Low latency Driver thats it and my new interface does not appear. I just bought this interface called Alesis io2 and only came with a Cubase trial instalation cd. How can i record using this interface in Cubase? thank you.

@guaicololo1 try reinstalling your driver software for your new interface , mine wouldnt work until i had deleted my old interface from the list first for some reason ,,,, and if its cubase ai4 you got with your interface thats more that good enough to record with , there are loads of tutorials to go by on here , thats exactly what i did

@lolitafantasy Yea! The better your Mic the better your voice sounds. Any Mic is better then you computer mic. For Pod casting and stuff I would look in to a condenser microphone. For other stuff like singing, Rap, Hiphop, Metal if your good you might want a large diaphragm condenser microphone

@Renrod80 didnt you get that pdf , gettin started when you installed cubase? just go check there if you haven't figured it out allready. You've probebly set up something wrong, that happened to me too at first but then i just tried everything and it worked out ;)

@Renrod80 hmm, for me it worked when i set the devices to presonus thingy( that's my sound card) instead of the standard that the pdf told me to use then it worked, are you gettin any error messages? like when you press record? sounds like it could be device problems, then again im only a beginner so don't listen to me :-)

you either need to set your in and your outs, or set up your audio capture device in the device setup box located under devices. hope that helps, cubase is really fuckin confusing at times took me two weeks of messing around just to record.

maybe its because you still have the monitoring on. same thing happens in Live 7: if you have the monitoring on it doesnt play back. so like he said, turn the monitoring off.

Dude, just use a digitech pedal, connect it with a usb. Then for drums, use drum kit from hell or something, maybe just EZdrummer.

what i usually do is export the track as a windows media audio file or whatever your default is for exporting. then just download a free audio converter off the web and you can put whatever tracks in whatever format you want in there and the converter will have options to put it into whatever format you want. but you do all this AFTER you have exported the audio file or song from cubase. then just burn it onto a cd from media player or itunes or whatever you use :)

you have to change the output from your midi track to your instrument, cause normally it is set to preset. just hit F11 for instruments, choose the one you want and go back to your project. change the output of midi track to your instruments name and done!

You need to use headphones while you record or your mic will pick up the audio from your first track that is playing while you record.

I have been recording with Cubase for some time in a studio built by me and my brothers. Recording Audio can be a chore because there are times that a recording will have a high pitched hum in the back round. I would set the UV settings, adjust volume, adjust decibel level but it still has a faint high pitched hum. What can I do to fix this?

You'll have a delay if you use software effects rather than using a "direct" source. I use a Lexicon USB external sound module with 1/4" jacks and plug in directly from my amp, using the effects I already have. Using a direct source removes the delay.
