  • What a wast of money man! worst bass pedalboard I ever see! If you take the time to learn your pedal set up and also how to set up your chain, you will have to sold la majority of your pedals, espacially the 5 - 6 delay...

  • hey,man

watch you setting,is very very bad ,

    and no good mixe

i am 2 pedal board on 4 foot long

    to 36 pedal.

  • @bassmandeadguns84 ... huh?

  • @bassmandeadguns84

    I agree at 100%.

  • hey! good video! love it! but, don't apologize about boss pedals! the most of them are awsome its just boring to only have them! A tip: sell many of your distortion pedals! its cool, but not with so many! you gotta have your own sound, not many, thats frustrating! And: Bass Wah is cool! get one, but not crybaby!

  • Someone needs a Delay Pedal with presets =P

  • @JosephGallagher Hahaha maybe; I just thought, "why not get 5 delay pedals then set them all differently so I don't have to mess with knobs ever?"

  • @mbro7614 You should check out the Deluxe Memory Man w/Hazarai. Dunno if you still have this same setup though, but it could remove like 5 or 7 pedals.

  • @JosephGallagher I looked at it, and the board has changed significantly since this video. But I think I'm happy with the setup I have now (which has 30 pedals I think...?)

  • @mbro7614 your tone must be really messed up with all those pedals

  • @DReidGuitars Nope, I can still get awesome clean tone. I get compliments from sound guys frequently on how good my rig sounds. There's some EQ pedals at the end of my chain to recover tone reduction as well as a very versatile amplifier to negate the effects of my effects on my tone.

  • @mbro7614 Dude... are you putting up a vid of that?

I'm building mine now.... tu-2 and Bf-2 is all I've got so far.

  • @newmoonrose What specifically would you like a video of?

  • @mbro7614 Your new setup I saw in a response to someone else's comment that you had a new setup.

  • @newmoonrose new-ish... just some stuff that has changed, whether addition of new gear or taking off pieces that weren't being used/didn't fit my style. Time's been really scarce lately, but I'll see if I can get on that at some point this week or next.

  • @mbro7614 did you by chance break into Justin's house.....

  • @DReidGuitars Nope :) just borrowed a couple ideas and put my own musical ideas through it so that I could create my own voice.

  • @mbro7614 yeah smae thing i said when i broke into Mark Tremonti's house and took his distortion pedal :)

  • @mbro7614 yeah same thing i said when i broke into Mark Tremonti's house and took his distortion pedal :)

  • You really love boss and chorus!!

  • @qwaqman 1) there's only 2 pedals on there that I use for chorus... not really that many, certainly not enough to conclude that I "love" it any more or less than any other effect, 2) Boss makes some decent stuff and the fact that they're one of the top manufacturers of pedals out there means that you can easily find a replacement or a place to get them fixed if something goes awry, and 3) I just love effects, it adds a whole new dimension to playing.

  • @mbro7614 Don't take me as a hater!! chorus is coooool!! and pedals are aweesome!! Nothing against you!! so much for u!!

  • @qwaqman I'm not, just explaining my reasoning, I suppose.

  • @mbro7614 do you play in a band? :p haha we're chatting!!

  • @qwaqman I do indeed; I'm the bassist/vocalist for a post metal band. We're working on some recordings now for an EP that we can hopefully have out at some point next year.

  • @mbro7614 cool! your first?

  • @qwaqman Nope. Fourth band overall, second one that is a serious project (recording, playing shows, (minor) touring, etc.)

  • How do you like the DC3 for toolish shit? I'm really interested in that pedal.

  • @syn5643 It's a really smooth chorus. Sounds better on guitar than bass in my opinion and if you're going to get a guitar chorus, get the Visual Sounds H2O liquid chorus (the double version with echo and chorus). It's the best chorus for guitar I've ever heard except for the Roland JC-120.

  • @mbro7614 I've played through that Chorus, I really didn't care for it to be honest. I'm looking for one EXTREMELY thick chorus, that I can set with a low ass rate. And then another really subtle chorus. I'm specifically wondering how this DC3 sounds. Because I think it could come in handy with my bf2 to just create some pretty "dimensional" sounds. It's more original sounding then the conventional choruses right?

  • @syn5643 I'm sorry to hear it didn't meet your needs. As far as thick chorus, you may want to go then for a Boss PS-3. The DC-3 is a really spacey sounding chorus. If you've ever heard the band Rosetta, their guitar player Matt Weed uses the DC-3 in conjunction with a DD-5 (I believe, may be DD-6 or DD-7) in probably every song they've got at some point. As far as guitar goes, I'd say that listening to Rosetta could provide you a much better reference.

  • @mbro7614 Thanks so much for the help brother!! I really appreciate it!! It was definitely a legitimate pedal, but I'm so picky about my effects. I've ran through a couple hundred pedals, no doubt. And the only ones that have a permanent place on my board are, MIJ 1980 dd3. MIJ 80's BF2. BB535 dunlop wah, GIG fx chopper, and an Xotic effects BB preamp. I love your board man, some serious shit going on there. I just think you need to really find use for that Bass whammy, or sell it to me. =]

  • @syn5643 Being picky is a good thing. By all means, try out what you can, but definitely only use stuff that you can use practically/tastefully. And thanks, you should see it now :) I'm still working on the whammy... right now I'm using it on some parts with the 5th up harmony and octave up/octave down to beef up some simple parts and the octave down to end songs sometimes, though my Octamizer will do the latter just as well.

  • @mbro7614 Also, the octave up function on the whammy in conjunction with an RV-3, distortion, and the BR2 is pretty sweet. It sounds like crazed whales.

  • @mbro7614 That's badass!

  • @syn5643

A really ballsy chorus if your still looking is the digitech bass chorus. they can be set really really slow and the sound is so thick it's unbelieveable.

    Don't know if it helps

  • @haggis325 Yeah man!!!!! my bass player has that, It's got 16 different "Voices" so you can exponentially increase the chorus!! I'm looking for something on guitar unfortunately!!

  • @syn5643

Some shop's (guitar techs) will mod pedals so if you no one you could get them to make it so it works a a guitar chorus aswell, other than that i have nothing for you.

good look in finding your new pedal.

  • @haggis325 Thanks a lot brother! I'll check the shops

  • bass whammy? awesome.

  • @Benayrsty Yeah, it's fun. But, it's hard to find a way to use it tastefully. I'm always trying to fit it in but it doesn't quite mesh the way I want it to.

  • Wow!!! Incredible pedalboard!!!

But, What about the insect in 3:58?

  • @LaboratorioDexter182 He was curious about the sounds hahaha

  • @mbro7614 Hahahaha, OK.

    Greetings from Argentina.

  • Jeff Caxide fan? ;-) Nice board!

  • @geribassist Ha yes, very much so. Love how tastefully he uses effects on ITAoT and Wavering Radiant.

  • @mbro7614 Yeah, me too. I think he plays tastefully on all of their records but the recent ones are just pure orgasm from a bass player's perspective. Plus his overall sound is mindblowing both on records and live.

  • @geribassist He retains so much low end with distortion and just... gah. He's no slouch for sure.

  • You need more pedals.

  • @StupidEarthlings haha i'm working on it... got like 10 more since this video and i'm working on getting 6 more. be 41 pedals in my chain at the end of it all.

  • @StupidEarthlings can you say, ambient?

  • keep your Q tron. that BR2 sucks.

  • @campclimax I have both now.

  • 3:58 BUG!!!!

  • can you use any pedal for bass?

    or only certain ones?

cause im looking to buy a pedal.

  • Depends on what kind of effect you want to use... are you thinking distortion, fuzz, overdrive, wah, auto-wah, envelope filter, delay, reverb, flanger, chorus, tremolo, pitch shifter?

  • yeah like a distortion fuzz flanger

  • For flanger you can use any flanger pedal really, just up to you with which one you think sounds good. Could go with boss bf-2, boss bf-3, ehx flanger hoax, T rex twister, homebrew frostbite, or ada flanger they're all pretty decent.

  • As far as fuzz and distortion go, I like / own:

Fulltone Bass Drive, Fulltone OCD, Zvex Wooly Mammoth, Colorsound Tonebender, SansAmp GT2, Morley Fuzz Wah, Pro Co Rat, and have two EQ pedals with a second channel for distortion which are the MXR M-80 and Aguilar Tone Hammer. The Aguilar AGRO and SWR Interstellar Overdrive are also superb distortion / overdrive effects, but they are both rack mount.

  • @mbro7614 The AGRO is now in a foot pedal version too.

  • One just popped up on eBay... keeping my fingers crossed.

  • I looked into that at one point, but it's got way too many features for what I want to do. I want a basic, simple, throaty sounding auto wah. So for that the BR-2, the Mad Prof. Snow White, or Subedecay Prometheus seem like the best choices right now.

  • No, it's got a treadle. So it's more like a volume pedal than a wah. If you shift it up, you have to manually shift it back down or it will stay shifted. If that makes any sense.

  • Haha, you do like Justin Chancellor dont you? Nice rig by the way. We need more basist like you in the future and today, keep rawking dude!

  • hey man ur vids are rad great sound you got, i like the sound of the tone bender i cant seem to find them for sale anywhere, was just wondering if you would know where i could get hold of it cheers

  • The best place to find the Tonebender is eBay, they have new ones for like $200, "special" yellow ones for $400 and then some older ones pop up occasionally and go for anywhere from $200-$500. Mine's a 1977 model, got it for like $270 on eBay after a fierce bid war haha.

  • I am new to putting together some affects for bass, got my hands on a old BF-2, Is it normal to hear a whoosh kind of sound when you are not strumming.

  • Yeah, mine used to do that. Doesn't anymore though. It may have something to do with your power supply and / or power conditioning, and / or it may just need a mod to cut frequencies that come through when you're not playing.

  • yeah, you're probably my favourite person ever.

  • Why thank you, sir.

  • sick pedals. but i would like to point out that at 3:58 a bug crawls under your pedalboard.

  • Haha damnit I didn't think anyone would call me out on that! But yeah, there was a roach problem at my old apartment. Won't be having that problem anymore though, just moved.
