  • @TheMrpunisherman The Battle of Mactan on April 27, 1521, is celebrated as the earliest reported resistance of the natives in the Philippines against foreign invaders. Lapu-Lapu, a Chieftain of Mactan Island, defeated Christian European explorers led by the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan

  • How's this for a forgotten war: The U.S. Navy / Marines invaded Korea in June 1871 with the warships Monocacy and Palos, with more than 1,000 sailors and marines. Nearly 700 men landed at the Kanghwa beaches. In two days of heavy fighting, June 10-11, 1871, the U.S. forces destroyed five forts and killed about 650 Koreans. Korea declared war on the United States for the next 10 years.

  • @wayne487msc The reason why it was a forgotten war is that it was rarely talked about. WW2 and Vietnam get more press coverage than the Korean war. So it has to do with the Political climate. WW2 was a battle against tyranny of Axis regime while Vietnam war reveals suffering and was the 1st time someone stand up against the Government.

They made more money on this than in Korean war.
