Actually, If I remember correctly he was still under contract when he was drafted by the Wolves. He would have needed to pay the team out of his own pocket to opt out of that current contract. Wolves were not allowed to help pay for that either so basically he wouldn't have been paid as a rookie if he came right away. Plus he was only 17 and the Wolves were aware he might not be coming over right away. He has said he will be coming over next season.

Ricky Rubio will be like every other european he will have to get use to the much more physical play of the NBA. A lot of european players take off in their 3rd or 4th year playing in Nba but others never take off and I see Rubio being one of the guys who dont become good after his 2nd year i predict he will go back to spain
