Whether you use the omaplata or not I highly suggest experimenting with that knee across the hips style of half guard. It lets you pin your opponents hips in place, and controlling the hips is jiujitsu 101!

What a great technique. I always go to underhook in HG to go to the back. Everyone expects that from me now so that will be my setup for this move.
