well mr casio pathfinder or triple sensor is the best regarding accurate readings but timex expedition is a big headache because every time you got to set the altitude. so dont buy it. casio is worth spending and i hav been using casio high end watches for the past one decade. i m a eco tour operator in india.
Seriously a big foot fatso watch. Since it doesn't have a GPS built in there is really no reason for such obesity if it's not really cheap. I mean suunto and casio beats it any day.

Wonderful review! I saw this watch in Backpacker and I really liked it. I'm a small woman with slender wrists but given that this watch is rectangular, it will still fit my wrists. I've been wanting a watch with an altimeter, barometer, compass, etc. I'm also more of an analog person, so I like the addtional clock in analog mode. Thanks so much for the review.
with everyday electronic devices now i'm find little need to wear a watch. I actually don't like the feeling of wearing a watch on my wrist. my mobile phone does it for me now.
@1982FMJ I agree in the case of every day use - I used to wear a watch before mobiles really came on the scene big time, but now, my mobile does it all. However, I personally see this as more of an outdoors timepiece, where I do not have a mobile with me - especially given its looks! I don't know about you, but I personally don't regard this as a fashion statement.
In other words, if I had only paid what Americans have to pay for it ($199), I wouldn't be disappointed at all. However, the outrageous $100 difference makes it not worth buying really.
Yes, it is a great watch (I bought one), but one of the selling features for me was the temperature sensor. This is the most disappointing feature however. In order to get a reasonably accurate reading, you need to take it off your wrist and even then it's not all that accurate. Same applies to the "weather forecast" feature. I've seen it as "cloudy and rainy" on days without a cloud in sight for days on end (and this is while outdoors). Good watch, but not worth the $299 it costs for Canadians.
The watch has one alarm I believe, but it has many settings (daily, weekly, weekends only). Plus the ability to have a 5 minute back-up reminder alarm.

This was a terrible review. You didnt even go over all the features. I think you were more concerned about available colors.

How do I set the altimeter to Zero? I was on the Palm in Dubai today. The excavation I was working in was at -1.8, below sea level?
