@420microman If you built a modified Clod Buster new from the ground up, it can be anywhere from $600-1000 depending on what parts & pieces are used. If it's a prebuilt truck that someone else has built, it can be usually be around $400-500 on places like ebay.
@cdkl121 At this particular race, we ran 3 brackets, and the Monster Energy truck won the 1st and 3rd brackets, and Ripper (the purple / silver truck at 1:21 in the video) won the 2nd bracket.
how much and where can i get one? or how to get one? i used to drive a nitro powerd rc but i didnt like buying the gas all the time so i sold it. iv bin driving rc cars all my life almost from radio shack ( befor it turned in to the source) to rc cars that go 70+ mph but its bin about 2 years so i kinda forgot some stuff but if you can tell me about them ill be really happy :) thanks
@RCkid8 The modified Clod Busters can be quite expensive since it's not as mainstream as other vehicles in the hobby. Building a new one from the ground up usually runs about $600-$1000 depending on what parts are used. However, I've seen prebuilt ones, that may either be new or used, go for about $400-$500 usually. Those ones show up on ebay every now and then. For a new one though, you could buy 2 Clod Axle Parts sets from say, Tower Hobbies . com, and combine it with an aftermarket chassis.
i truly believe that anyone looking to get into rc's should absolutely start with a kit maybe not like this but an electric kit that offers an amazing amount of customization after its built.i remember when i was i think 11 i had a tamiya txt-1..learn how to build and do maintenance on it when needed then just slowly work your way up.now i have an mgt with an axial .28 engine and i love it
@dhowardfacial I couldn't agree more. I started with a stock Clod Buster kit and then worked my way up by modifying it later. I think a lot of people miss out on the technical aspect of building a truck when they buy it either prebuilt or completely RTR. There are so many people I see that don't know how to fix their truck when it breaks since they don't know where things are supposed to go...
@mrdestruction21 i always believed too that when you built it you could really take pride in it,and you would value it and be careful with it.I think after i had the txt-1 i had a traxxas e-maxx,then a stampede.i stuck with those three for probly 3 years. The truth is too that the emaxx i had could have probly kept up with my stock mgt
@masterkid17 Many of the chassis kits for the Clod Buster that people in the video were using were either the Thunder Tech Racing Ripper/Ripper Pro or the Crawford Performance Engineering Terminator.
It's in a small town called Versailles...about an hour and a half west of Springfield.
If you get on RCMT . net and message Jason, who runs the series, aka "Blues Racing", he will let you know more info. There's also a section on there called RCMTC Racing Events, where we have info, pics, and videos of our events.
To build a truck new from the ground up, it can be around $600-$100, but a prebuilt, used truck can pop up on ebay for about half of those prices...
Great Video. A couple of questions if you don't mind. I notice what looks like a batman truck and a superman truck. Any idea if these are custom jobs or someone makes the bodies. Also, what are you using for the cars that make the jumps? I was thinking aluminum bread pans so they crush like cars under weight. Again, GREAT video!!
Thanks for the compliments! The Batman body is custom body that Eric Krush made himself. It was a McCallister dirt oval body with scrap lexan added on the sides for the "wings", and then had flashlights attached to the back for the burners. His website is ricrush . com
The Superman body was custom as well, and just simply a Ford F-150 body with some basketball shorts cut up and used as the cape.
The cars were the crushed car body from Thunder Tech Racing with wooden bases. There's a "how to" on how to make the cars on Eric's site: ricrush . com / crushedcar . html
@Bmr4life see thats what i wanna do with my monster truck but everytime i bring it up to someone they act like im speaking spanish but this is a bad ass video
Most of these trucks are modified Tamiya Clod Busters and building a brand new truck from the ground up can range anywhere from $600-$800, and possibly $1000+ depending on the parts used. There are used trucks that pop up on ebay from time to time and go for about half that price. So a used assembled truck usually sells for about $400.
I am going to be building a ripper. How does one find out about the races? Who puts them on? Do you know of anyone doing this in michigan? What are the rules? I was so glad to find out that someone does this style of racing. My kids and I have been doing it with a collection of stampedes. I would make the drive a few times a year to race like this.
wow i love tube frame clods now lol :D i have been a fan of the oldschool sassy chassis first time i saw it tho :P but tubers are way more realistic :D
Surprisingly, the only tube frame trucks in this video are the 2 Grave Diggers. A majority of the other trucks are modified Clod Busters either on a Thunder Tech Ripper/Ripper Pro chassis or CPE Terminator chassis.
Oh yeah, and just for further clarification, the 2 Grave Diggers I'm referring to does not include the Digger with green wheels and the "Backwards Brad" name in the windshield. That one is on a green Ripper chassis. I forgot there were 3 Diggers at this event.

my electric car is way faster than those buggies!!! and i have a gas 1/5 scale buggy that can beat the horse power of all those cars put together
Lakersjs54 2 years ago
There are no "buggies" in this video...
mrdestruction21 2 years ago
you are a fool. no one cares. these trucks aren't meant for going super fast. they are meant to replicate the full scale monster trucks.
P.S. All of my cars and trucks are faster than yours.

To find out about a lot of RC monster truck events, there's a message board for it called RCMT.
There is a group called Downriver R/C that I know of, but I'm not sure if they do elimination style racing at all.
The rules can vary from club to club. Our rules for this event are posted as one of the RCMT threads.
I'll send you the links in a message, because for some reason, I can't seem to post a comment that has links in it.
