Mott was the shit !. I saw them in NYC as the opening act for Queen at the Uris Theater on Broadway. Queen was being billed as the first Rock band on broadway but MOTT opened
Thank you for uploading this! Anyone out there in video land have a nice clean copy of that late 70's - early 80's German ( Rockpalast?) Concert with Mick Ronson and the heavy and definitive performance of Cleveland Rocks??? Luther Grosvenor...what a trip!
Great video of Mott the Hopple. Rock On 70s early glam rock. Why watch tv, when I go see T REX or Mitch Ryder or SWEET. Thanks y-tube and friends for up loading the jams.
@Super1bigKahuna ,,,Yeah, but you have to give ol' Zig his creds for writing what's essentially the first anthem of the Gay Rights Movement. And even if it wasn't, it's still a kick-ass song in its own rights!
I take it that Mr. Bowie wrote this tune; If that's the case, Mr. Bowie welcome. This is the tune that introduced America to Glam Rock; Something I really like. Nice!
The great Ian Hunter, never knew WHAT side of the sexual fence HE was leaning on ; )...looks like howard stern took a few pages out of his note-book...these guys better be in the Hall, goddammit
This was just when Ariel joined up and is one of the first shows he did with them. I saw them at the Hollywood Palladium within days of this appearance.
Oh yeah..... great vid. I have a recording of the show but never knew that it was filmed. Great to see it. (Ian has more strap than guitar.... holy cow)
This was about the time I saw them at the Hollywood Palladium. Opening for them were Baby, Blue Oyster Cult then Joe Walsh with Barnstorm. I was right next to the stage left speaker stack. Have been deaf in one ear ever since.

They always did a better version of this song than Bowie. Not saying they are better than Bowie, but they own this song.

all guitar bands from the recxent past and today are either copying this or taking huge chunks from their musical ethos.
Hunter was the original...... theatrical/rock entity, utterly original. Kinda scary really.

If you listen closely, you hear the chords to One of the Boys for a second or two. That was a monster of song, too.
In '76 a friend and I hitchiked 70 miles through a downpour to see them in London, Ontario.
Ian introduced All the Young Dudes with "We'd like to play our national anthem", or something like that.
They were freaking incredible. Music with soul and snarl.

Is it just me or does Ace Frehley owe a lot to Luther Grosvenor a.k.a Ariel Bender? Even the out fit resembles Ace's later KISS persona.
