yes, he wrote it for his son, as something that they could play together.

I am continuously amazed with her technique and having her fingers so far from the keys. As a virtuosic pianist she is just astounding at her phrasing. I am performing this piece in Dec with another pianist and also again with an orchestra. There are so many different interpretations of this piece, but whichever is used, Argerich sincerely displays the repressions that Shostakovich displayed in all his music. BRAVO!!!

Bravissimi! What a delightful version of the Concertino. The introduction really brings out the elements of the middle movement of Beethoven's Concerto No.4. The faster section is free and exciting.
