hey race experts! a serious question: is it correct if i say that sometimes its faster to drift throu a corner than going properly and not loosing traction? espesially if the car doesent have high tech traction controll and has understeer. thanks if you answer. drivers in WRC are doing it...

@youluvana totally different story...drivers at wrc have a different setup/tires etc , they have to 'drift' for having the maximum amount of grip and cutting though the gravel ..and those are also 4wd ! Trackcars have a very different setup etc and the amount of grip is so much that when drifting you'll loose speed . Though it does depends on the car's setup ...most older cars like escorts , old porsches etc also drifted on the tracks..but tarmac back then wasn't as grippy as nowadays

@youluvana so it all depends on the amount of grip available of the track , combined with the sort of rubber used and the characteristics of a car's chassis ...Racecars on tarmac will be setup on having the most downforce in the corners , thus massive griplevels ..drifting those cars will end up in almost an immediate stand-still or losing so much downforce they'll spin out . Look at f1 cars ..major amounts of grip/downforce ..one spin and it's uncontrolable .

@youluvana WRC fe. those cars have high suspensions , smaller and harder tires , 4wd and almost none downforce in a straight line ..they'll have to get their setup on weight-distribution , hard braking and massive traction out of a corner . These cars won't have the same levels of downforce a trackcar has , they do however have the moment of weight-distribution and g-levels so high up and so quickly changing it throws them into a corner with blistering speeds .

@TheAMGLover wrc cars are also not that fast on the apex of the corner , they just pull themselves out by enourmous power-delivery on short-throwing gearboxes , thus big traction and griplevels when propelling out of the corner , that's why they use handbrake in a hairpin..taking the momentum of throwing them in the right direction and lifting off again..

@Gurksallad10 If I didn't move down the terrace, you would have no video. I don't know if you have ever been to Luffield A terrace but judging by your comment, you haven't. There are many steps so holding the camera still is impossible. I also had to move quickly or again, there would be no video. The part of the video where the video is poor, nothing too important is happening. The main event which was the drift was captured well enough and I was still moving to make sure there was a video at

I think 2011 will be a good seasonfor Vettel again, but I can see Mark and the McLarens pushing him all the way. I think the 107% Rule is a good idea, because Hispania are pretty much useless, and get in the way. The DRS sounds like something that should have been around for a lot longer, KERS I think needs stricter rules though because Red Bull seem to have it only for the start. No F-Duct is safer, The Blown diffuser is genius,and Petrov's podium was great! :D

My second GP too! It said Demonstration Laps - SC on the time table thing so we stayed to see what it was! Pretty sick. Did you get into the paddock after the Formula BMW race at the end of Sunday? It was free entrance onto the track then into the paddock if you liked and I got to meet loads of the drivers and team bosses!
