I'm an old-time Get Smart devotee...and I had serious reservations about hollywood ruining another classic. (ala Rollerball, Planet of the Apes, etc etc) But I was pleasantly suprised.

If you HAVE to do another Smart, you could not have found a better Max than Carrell.

And the fact that they consulted with Brooks and Henry and didn't just steamroll their interpretation over everyone shows they too had respect for the series.

The movie was HILARIOUS!!! It was a lot better than I was expecting!! I went with my dad who was convinced it was going to be bad b/c he's not a huge Steve Carell fan (I know! The BLASPHEMY!) Anyways, I looked over at the end of the movie and he was sitting there in awe!! He then proceeded to yell 'That was AWESOME'!! So, I guess that it proved to me how amazing the movie truly was!!

The original series was hilarious. It still is shown on cable off and on. Don Adams was a crack up as Maxwell Smart ( agent 86) and Barbara Feldon was great as 99. Max was a screw up that got things done inspite of himself. A shoe phone would be sooooo cool. lol
